The collaborative and caring Year 12 class of 2024 have grown and flown the Auslan nest, and we will really miss them! What a kind and considerate bunch of young adults. It has been a pleasure getting to know them so well over several years. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours, and hope our paths will cross again. Thanks for the memories, the lovely mementos, and your generous words in the legacy book! Remember - sign language is your superpower!

Knowing NWDP was taking place in the school holidays this month at Shenton, we proudly celebrated "Languages Week" more broadly last month, with a display of information banners in the iCentre, and some activity booklets. We were very grateful to share the banners created by WAAD and ASLIA (WA) for the Auslan: Then and Now museum exhibition, during our week of language celebrations!

Beyond proud of this wonderful group of Year 12 ATAR Auslan students. A truly lovely, supportive, kind, and talented bunch of young people, they've had their WACE practical interviews and their final video/written exam in the past week, and wrapped up their final day of school today. WACE exams for their other subjects are still ahead of them, but their Auslan journey at Shenton is officially over. We hope it's just the start of their ongoing involvement in the Deaf community though, and in using Auslan in their future work / life in different ways. We wish them all the best for the future, and greatly appreciate the generous words and memories they shared with us in a great legacy book (initiated by the Class of 2022!), and we are grateful for their very thoughtful gifts and cards today - a few tears were shed (and not just by us!)! We are so very privileged to have taught this group from Years 7-12...such an honour. Well done Class of 2023, it's been a pleasure! xx
