Some rides feel like a step back.

The resistance.
The tension.
The “nothing is working today” feeling.

It’s easy to think you’re undoing progress, or just not making progress .

But often, it’s the moment your horse is:
• processing something new
• testing understanding
• asking for clarity

Growth doesn’t always look soft and flowing.

Sometimes it looks messy first.

Stay consistent. Stay kind.

The work will pay off and the rewards will show up.

Rein in the pressure. Rise through learning and understanding perfection doesn’t exist, and pressure doesn’t help.

Equine Business Virtual Admin Support Demand Survey 19/02/2026

🐴 WA Equine Business Owners, Managers, Workers and all the in between – Quick Favour 🙏

If you run a coaching business, an agistment centre, a training stable, a bodywork service, a breeding operation or host clinics in Perth or the South-West — I’d really value 3 minutes of your time. And no, I don't need your name or your business details! 😅

Honest question… how many hours a week are you spending on admin instead of horses? 😅 Bookings. Invoices. Chasing payments. Clinic coordination. Insurance. EA paperwork. Social media. Peak season overwhelm. Any of the admin, all of the admin.

I’m researching whether WA equine professionals would genuinely benefit from equine-specific admin & operations support — or whether it’s something people just “cope” with.

This isn’t a sales pitch — I am doing proper market validation before considering launching something like this. If the admin is eating into your time or limiting your growth, I’d love your input. It is completely de-identified!

Undervaluing Horsemanship — Don’t Do It.

Horsemanship is the foundation of everything — for horse and human.

It’s more than riding; it’s care, connection, communication. Studies show that many horse owners lack key knowledge in behaviour, pain recognition, and learning theory — the very skills that build trust and welfare.

For me, it all started before I ever rode a step — learning to groom, tack up, clean hooves, and just be with horses. That foundation shaped everything I believe and teach today.

When we slow down and return to the basics, confidence grows — in the horse and in us. From care to groundwork to calm, responsive partnership — it all starts with horsemanship.

🌿RHYTHM🌿

Dressage doesn’t start with collection or perfection—it starts with the first building block of the training scale: RHYTHM. That steady, consistent, and unhurried beat is the foundation of everything we build with our horses. Rhythm teaches us patience. It reminds us to move in harmony with our horse, not ahead of them.

Whether you're riding a green horse or schooling higher movements, always come back to this question: Can we move with balance, relaxation, and clarity in the rhythm that suits this horse? This is where real training begins—and where true partnership forms.

🐎 Why rhythm matters:
Rhythm is the consistent tempo and regularity of the footfalls. It builds relaxation, balance, and flow in every ride. According to the FEI, "The rhythm should also be maintained through the transitions within a pace and in all turns, also in the corners, as well as on straight lines. No exercise can be good if the horse is losing rhythm. A loss of rhythm is often a sign of incorrect training".

💡 Know your beats:
• Walk = 4-beat
• Trot = 2-beat
• Canter = 3-beat
Your horse's rhythm must stay regular and unforced.

⚖️ What rhythm feels like:
A natural, swinging movement where the horse feels connected, not hurried or held.

🧘‍♀️ Your job as a rider:
• Rein in tension
• Feel your horse’s tempo
• Follow, support, and maintain the rhythm
This is the beginning of a true connection.

✨ Rein & Rise is about more than riding. It’s about partnership. Contact us to discuss your training needs.
