There’s something special about a room full of educators deeply committed to supporting every student to succeed - and that was exactly the energy in Adelaide this week.

Janine Smallbone and Meg Levitt were thrilled to spend Day 2 of the Instructional Lead Fellowship with Catholic Education South Australia (CESA).

The openness and quality of professional dialogue in the room made it a genuinely energising day. Thank you to every participant for the way you showed up... thoughtful, engaged, and committed to the work that matters most: improving outcomes for your students.

The Instructional Lead Fellowship is all about turning evidence into action -building clarity around high-impact teaching, strengthening coaching, and supporting leaders to create real, lasting change across their teams.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your instructional leadership, our next Online ILF cohort begins May 21!

We’d love to work with you.

We're honoured and hugely excited to be part of HundrED’s new global collaboration with the BHP Foundation - an initiative focused on understanding what it takes to make education innovation work in real-world contexts. 👏

The project brings together 11 organisations across Australia, Canada, Chile, Argentina, and Peru, supported through the BHP Foundation’s US$10M Education Development Fund. Together, the focus is on strengthening STEM learning and improving outcomes for students from underrepresented communities.

At Teach Well, this partnership enables us to deliver our Masterclass in High-Impact Instruction to secondary and mathematics teachers in Australian schools with an ICSEA below 1000 - supporting high-quality teaching where it matters most.

In addition, participating schools will get a 12-month licence to Impact Assessment, a powerful assessment platform offering detailed analytics and over 200 End of Unit and End of Semester assessments mapped to national and state curriculum standards and aligned to Ochre resources.

This innovation replaces fragmented professional development and disconnected resources with a connected, coherent approach. In 2025, Teach Well joined Ochre Education, strengthening our mission to align curriculum, teaching and assessment

Our team is incredibly proud to contribute to a collaboration that goes beyond surface-level success, capturing the real conditions that drive impact - and ultimately, better outcomes for young people.

Yesterday, Sue Knight and Janine Smallbone had the pleasure of working with the incredible team at St Mary's College in St Kilda.

Together, they explored how to build a shared understanding of the Science of Learning and brought the school’s RAISE Learning Model to life in practical, meaningful ways.

The session focused on Teach Well’s approach to high-impact lesson design and delivery - supporting teachers to create classrooms where every student is actively engaged.

A key theme? Moving beyond passive learning by intentionally planning for full participation and embedding regular, purposeful checks for understanding throughout every lesson.

Thank you for having us St Mary's College! What a brilliant day of collaboration and practice in action. 👏

🌟 New Episode Alert: Teach Well x Magnify Matters! 🌟

The team at Teach Well absolutely loved hearing two of our own - Katie Webster and Katie Roberts-Hull Roberts‑Hull - join Tim Edwards on the Magnify Matters podcast to dig into what really moves the needle in teaching and learning.

If you're passionate about evidence-informed practice, calm and predictable classrooms, or how to turn “great PD” into real impact on student outcomes, this episode is a must‑listen.

🔍 What’s inside the episode?

A rich, honest conversation about what it really takes to translate research into everyday practice across schools. Katie & Katie share insights from working with more than 900 schools, including:

Why calm, orderly and predictable classrooms are the foundation for effective learning.

Why one‑off workshops don’t work - and what sustainable professional learning should look like.

How modelling, feedback and full participation help teachers build confidence and consistency.

Why system improvement depends on coherence, shared language and continuous learning.

🙌 A huge thank you to CESL

We’re so grateful to Catholic Education Sandhurst and the Magnify Matters team for creating such a thoughtful and genuinely impactful podcast series.

Your commitment to elevating evidence-informed practice across the system is inspiring - and we’re proud to be part of the journey.

Some teachers are being handed Ochre Novel Studies and told to “implement”… but the real work sits underneath that.

You and your team might be wondering:
How do we actually adapt this well?
What does strong intellectual preparation really look like?
Are we doing this right for our students?

If you’ve felt that - you’re not alone. And more importantly, you’re not doing anything wrong. This is complex, high-skill work.

Teach Well's Develop Your Own Novel Study Unit (Years 3–6) course is designed to support you (and your team) to:

- Understand the structure and intent of the units
- Build confidence in how to prepare
- Make thoughtful, purposeful adaptations

This program is designed for primary Literacy teams who are keen to develop their skills in unit design aligned to the science of learning. Although this course will draw on Ochre resources to demonstrate key concepts, it is relevant for all schools, irrespective of whether you use Ochre materials or not!

📅 Next cohort launches May 4
