What a year for the Lyn Beazley Academy.
A monumental season of growth, courage and connectionโฆmade possible by the incredible students we walk beside and the community that stands with us. As we share this moving look at the lives changed in 2025 in our inaugural year, our hearts are full.
Grateful for the support, inspired by our young people and ready for an even brighter year ahead.
Wishing everyone a joyful, safe and hope-filled Christmas from all of us at LBA.

โจ "Life-changing for us all."
Sometimes the biggest impact of the right place to learn is felt far beyond the learning space.
At Lyn Beazley Academy, parents of our participants tell us theyโre rediscovering connection and joy at home. And those moments - the conversations, the eating together as a family - are priceless.

๐๐ Celebrating the Spectrum: Terrence Tao ๐๐
The world calls him one of the greatest living mathematiciansโฆand for good reason!
Terrence Tao, born in Adelaide to Chinese immigrant parents, is now a UCLA professor and a Fields Medalist whose work stretches across harmonic analysis, combinatorics, probability, number theory and more. With 300+ research papers and honours including the Fields Medal, Royal Medal, MacArthur Fellowship and Breakthrough Prize, his impact is unmatched.
Tao shows what happens when exceptional minds are understood, supported and given room to excel. Isnโt it a powerful reminder of the brilliance neurodivergent thinkers bring to the world?
Follow us for more celebrating the spectrum moments including with our very own participants and supporters.

๐New Artwork Unveiled: Collisions at LBA ๐
A powerful new presence has arrived at the Lyn Beazley Academy.
Collisions - an 8-metre collaborative artwork by Rory Craig Charles and Matthew McVeigh, has been generously donated and delicately installed by the artists themselves. This striking mixed-media piece dives into colonialism, identity and historical truth. It invites our students and staff to confront the stories that shaped our world and continue to do so.
In just days, Collisions has become a catalyst for deep, thoughtful conversations across the Academy. Itโs more than a visual centrepiece; itโs a learning tool. Itโs provoking and a bold reminder of the power of truth in education.
A heartfelt thank you to Rory and Matt for this awesome contribution.
Follow our us for more updates to our academy, student life and knowledge share.

๐ฐ LBA in the News: PerthNow ๐ Proud moment for the Lyn Beazley Academy.
As part of Mental Health Week, The Y WA Inside Our Minds short film series shone a spotlight on five young voices - including Daisy, one of our outstanding LBA students.
Featured in PerthNow, Daisy (16) offers a powerful perspective on autism, ADHD and OCD. She speaks openly about the value of diagnosis for understanding and awareness, while emphasising the importance of not letting labels limit potential. We also love her practical strategies like using her headphones to manage sensory input. Itโs all part of helping her navigate daily life with confidence.
Her message is one we stand behind: awareness is rising, stigma is falling. Yes, young people are leading the change.

๐๐ As we wrap up our participants' feature on The Y WA "Inside our Mind's" series, we introduce Charlotte, 16, who shares her experience of living with autism, ADHD, and OCD. ๐ซถ
๐ฌ Charlotte describes her experience with a beautiful metaphor: ๐ being "logic-driven, but also kind of dreamy." ๐ญ She also discusses the challenges of being in your own head and what she wishes others understood about neurodivergent young people.
๐ซถ Charlotteโs story has a simple request: patience is a powerful call for greater understanding: ๐ฏ "We're people too and we understand you and we just want to be treated like people. If you take the time to actually just sit down and have the patience for us to find our words, we can tell."
๐ Thank you to all our participants and other young people who bravely shared their stories to help destigmatise mental health issues. Remember: You are not alone.

๐ญ ๐ฌ The conversation continues with our participant, Daisy, for The Y WA "Inside our Mind's" series!
Daisy, 16, discusses autism, ADHD and OCD. ๐๐ She shares a perspective on the power of diagnosis, acknowledging that while it is helpful for understanding and awareness, you must be careful not to let it define you. ๐จShe also highlights practical, everyday strategies, like using her headphones, to manage sensory input and stress levels.
"I've sort of seen the progression of people are just getting more and more aware and the stigma of it is wearing off quite a lot. So, yeah, if it keeps getting this better in such a short time, I guess then it can keep improving basically."
Thank you ๐ Daisy for continuing this important dialogue to destigmatise mental health.

Autism and the Power of Dedication in the Arts ๐จ๐
๐๐ผ Meet Lee, one of our inspiring participants, who is sharing her story as part The Y WA "Inside our Mind's" series, raising awareness on how neurodivergent young people experience and care for their mental health.
๐๐ Lee challenges the common assumption that neurodivergent individuals are only suited for STEM, sharing that her passion shines brightest in the artistic field, including music and film. As Lee puts it:
๐ฌ "It is really a strength sometimes because we get to, you know, have a lot more dedication to some things..."
๐ Thank you Lee for creating space for real, open, and supportive conversations among young people.
