We’re pleased to announce that 7 Curtin students, along side UWA students, will have the opportunity for an overnight site tour of Rio Tinto’s Yandi operation from the 6th to the 7th of October.
This represents a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of the FIFO lifestyle and see what a large scale iron ore mine looks like for the people working there. All degrees and all years are welcome to apply! Scan the QR code or use the link in bio to sign up.

✨Thank you to the team from Rio Tinto for joining us last Thursday for our Evening Education session!✨

We heard from James Emslie and Evelyn Chuk, who shared their experience and insights with our members, before the night moved into a networking session - a great chance for students to ask questions, make connections and hear first-hand what a career in the industry can look like.

Events like this are only possible thanks to industry professionals giving up their time to invest in the next generation, and we’re grateful for the support.

Last Thursday, we hosted our first ever AusIMM student quiz night! We were hosted by Association of Chemical Engineering Students (ACES) as the Curtin University Tavern, and it was a huge success! With students and industry coming together to form 7 teams, we had a wide range of knowledge in the room. Thank you to the committees from both clubs, but a huge thank you to Pratyush Goel for being the main orginiser for the night!

A huge thanks must also go to Laurie Fletcher and Westgold Resources Limited for being our MC and prize sponsor for the night, no one could have done it better then you!

Thank you to our students and industry partners for attending, and even one of champions from the night share a photo of his office bragging rights! We hope to do it again next year!

A huge thank you to Hancock Iron Ore for hosting the AUSIMM Curtin Student Chapter at their Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Perth! ✨

Our students had the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into Hancock Iron Ore’s operations, automation systems, and integrated approach to remote operations. It was great to see how innovation and technology continue to shape the future of mining. 💡

Recently, we had the opportunity to host our Student Meets Industry Night in collaboration with the AusIMM UWA Student Chapter at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. With over 750 student registrations and more than 40 companies in attendance, the event highlighted the strong interest in connecting students with the mining industry.
