Learning to see before learning to draw. 👁️🎨

For two lessons, our young artists worked from life using soft pastels.

They learned how to find their composition with a viewfinder, judge proportions and scale, place objects correctly, and observe tone, light and shadow.

So much thinking goes into a drawing before the first mark is even made.

And the results? Absolutely stunning. 🤍

My wonderful young artists have just completed two beautiful projects! ❤️

For their oil painting project, they could choose one of three styles — Realism, Impressionism, or Expressionism — and explore their own way of working with colour, light and brushwork.

Their second project was soft pastel drawing from real objects, developing their observational drawing skills and learning to really see shape, colour, light and form.

They did an absolutely amazing job, and I’m so proud of every one of them! 🎨✨

My wonderful student Daria was awarded 3rd Place in the Lower Secondary category at the 2026 Shaun Tan Award for Young Artists!

Watching her grow as an artist, work hard, keep learning and then receive this recognition is such a special moment for me as her teacher. 🥹✨

So, so proud of you, Daria! Keep creating, keep believing in yourself and keep going — this is only the beginning! ❤️

We did it! ✨

Two Sundays. Ten hours. Twenty incredible artists.

Every single participant created a real masterpiece to take home and proudly hang on their wall.

Seeing everyone so happy with their results made all the hard work worth it.

Thank you for trusting us. We pour our hearts into every workshop, and we can't wait to create with you again. ❤️🎨

First time painting with oils? Yes! This is Tracy's very first oil painting, and she absolutely nailed it. So proud of her beautiful achievement! 💙

We finished the term with four major projects, all dedicated to one beautiful theme: Animals in Art.
Oil painting, soft pastels, watercolour and textured painting - four different mediums, four amazing results.
This is our final project of the term, and I’m incredibly proud of my students. ❤️
