Our students have been getting creative for NAIDOC Week, designing posters inspired by this year’s theme, ‘50 Years Deadly’, honouring the past, celebrating the present and inspiring the future.

🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC Week at Bannister Creek – Teacher vs Students AFL Match 🏉

What a game! Our annual NAIDOC Week Teachers vs Students AFL match was full of energy, skill and plenty of friendly competition.

The students put up a great game and had a huge crowd of supporters cheering them on, creating an amazing atmosphere! 📣👏

In the end, the Teachers took the win! 🏆 A special congratulations to Miss Hansen and Tom from Room 25, our 2 Match MVPs! ⭐

A huge thank you to everyone who played, cheered and supported. It was a fantastic way to celebrate NAIDOC Week through sport, culture and community. 🖤💛❤️

🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC Week at Bannister Creek – Perth Demons Clinic & BBQ 🏉

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, today we had the Perth Demons, who worked with our Year 6 students through a fun morning of football games, kicking, drills and plenty of laughs. 🏉

We then enjoyed a special NAIDOC Week BBQ at Recess, where students had the opportunity to try emu, kangaroo and crocodile sausages!

A huge thank you to the Perth Demons for joining us and sharing their time with our students. A big shout-out to Tim, who volunteered his time to help Mr McNamara and Mr Schicker with the BBQ today, and to the rest of our staff who helped make this BBQ possible!

🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC Week at Bannister Creek – The Creek Walk 🌿

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, today our Aboriginal students and families enjoyed a special walk down to the creek with Mr McNamara, Miss Hansen, Mr Schiker, Miss Southey, Mrs Findlay and Umar from Sercul, who joined us this morning.

The morning was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal culture, connect with the natural environment and spend time together as a community while exploring our surroundings and spotting the different plants, animals and natural features along the way.

It was lovely to see our students and families connecting, sharing and learning together, strengthening relationships and celebrating culture.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a meaningful morning. 🖤💛❤️

🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC Week at Bannister Creek – Opening Ceremony

This week, Bannister Creek is celebrating NAIDOC Week.
Today, we kicked off our celebrations with our NAIDOC Week Opening Ceremony, joined by special guests Ash and Jacinta from Corroboree For Life.
Ash and Jacinta worked with our Indigenous students to prepare a few special dance performances for today’s Opening Ceremony. Our students did an amazing job, and we were so proud to see them share what they have learnt with our school community.

A huge thank you to Ash and Jacinta for joining us to kick off our NAIDOC week celebrations, our students loved it!

#13 Today marks the opening of NAIDOC Week, a special time for our school community to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We look forward to

🐢Year 3 Wildlife Excursion 🐍

On Thursday, our Year 3 students visited the WA Wildlife Hospital, where they learnt about protecting the environment to help keep native Western Australian animals healthy and out of hospital. During the excursion, students discovered how to identify native wildlife in the Bibra Lake Wetlands and explored the importance of conservation. They learnt that caring for all living things, including insects, is essential for maintaining healthy and thriving food webs. Students also had the opportunity to meet some of the amazing animal residents of the hospital and learn about the care they receive. To finish off a fantastic day of learning, the students enjoyed a run around the Regional Playground before heading back to school.

Claims are now open for the third round of the WA Student Assistance Payment.

Eligible WA families can claim:
• $150 for each kindy and primary student
• $250 for each secondary student
to help with school-related costs like uniforms, stationery, excursions and more📚👟🙌
