Early Childhood Educators Day 2026! 🌿💚

Our Mirrabooka Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care students came together to celebrate Early Childhood Educators’ Day with a morning tea! 🧁☕️

Everyone brought along a snack to share, creating an opportunity to sit together, connect and celebrate the important work of early childhood educators.

The students also took the time to share what they love about being a working towards educator, reflecting on their passion for supporting, nurturing and helping young children learn and grow. 🌱

Today was such a lovely reminder of the passion, care and dedication that our future educators bring to the early childhood sector every day.

Our Diploma students recently visited the to explore Bruce Asbestos’ Cranky Parts exhibition.

The experience gave our students the opportunity to discover, play, and enjoy learning through art, while exploring how creative experiences can support children’s curiosity, imagination, self-expression and learning in Early Childhood Education and Care.

By experiencing the gallery firsthand, students could consider how art and creative environments can be incorporated into meaningful, engaging experiences for young children. 🖼️✨

Book Week 2026! ✨📚

Our students got creative for Book Week, dressing up with their choice of book and bringing their imaginations to life! 🌟

As part of the celebrations, the classes worked in small groups to create their very own children’s books — complete with original stories and illustrations. 🎨📖

Their stories explored important topics including social and emotional skills, healthy eating, creative imagination and self-confidence.

Each group proudly presented their story to the class as though they were delivering it to children in an Early Childhood setting — putting their communication, creativity and storytelling skills into practice!

A wonderful opportunity to build the creativity, confidence and communication skills they’ll use throughout their early childhood education careers! 📚🌱

Food Safety in Practice 🥪👩‍🍳

Last week at our Ellenbrook campus, students put their knowledge into practice as part of HLTFSE001 – Follow basic food safety practices!

Students participated in a practical food safety simulation in an industrial kitchen, preparing a sandwich while demonstrating essential food safety practices, including:

🧼 Correct handwashing procedures
🥼 Appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
🥪 Safe food handling techniques
📋 Following food safety policies and procedures

The activity provided students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a realistic, workplace-like environment while building confidence in safe food preparation practices.

Students worked together to plan and design engaging play-based activities for children, putting plenty of creativity and effort into bringing their ideas to life. They then presented their activities to the group, challenging their classmates to guess which play schema each activity represented! 🧩🎭

Our students got involved in a fun Mix & Match group activity as part of HLTWHS001 – Participate in Workplace Health and Safety! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

Working together in groups, students were challenged to identify and match the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees. Each group discussed the different responsibilities, shared their ideas and worked collaboratively to determine where each statement belonged.

This interactive activity encouraged students to communicate, problem-solve and learn from one another, while building their understanding of the important role both employers and employees play in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Activities like this help bring classroom learning to life, giving students the opportunity to work together and apply their knowledge in a fun and engaging way! 🌟
