What a wonderful evening celebrating the achievements of our Law and Criminology students at last night’s Prize Night 🎓✨ It was a real pleasure to recognise the hard work, dedication and excellence of our students, and to meet the families and friends whose support has been such an important part of their journeys 👏💙

A huge thank you to our generous sponsors who made the event possible, to the professional staff who organised such a fantastic evening, and to the academics who came along to support our students 🙏 A special highlight was the speech by IS, recipient of the Francis Burt Medal for top achievement in Law in her graduating class 🏅⚖️ Speaking on behalf of all prize winners, she delivered a thoughtful and inspiring address that perfectly captured the spirit of the night.

We are proud to recognize Banafsha, who completed her Bachelor of Laws in 2024 and is now a 2025 graduate with a Master of Criminology from the Murdoch University School of Law and Criminology. Her story highlights the exceptional achievements of our student body.

Banafsha Reflects on Her Path:

"I commenced my study in Afghanistan in 2003 and moved to Australia in 2008 with no English. After 1.5 years of ESL at the Australian Islamic College, I progressed to high school, graduating from Canning College in 2015. After completing my initial Bachelor of Arts in 2021, I started my Bachelor of Laws at Murdoch in 2021.

Practical experience was a key focus; I completed the Family Law Clinic through Murdoch at SCALES in 2023. I graduated in 2024 and completed my PLT through the College of Law during my final semester. I was admitted to the Supreme Court of WA on October 7, 2024, and immediately began practicing as a family lawyer.

I also pursued further education, completing a Master's degree part-time and graduating in October 2025. I’m now working full-time as a family lawyer, aiming to master my skills, gain valuable experience, and eventually achieve my aspiration of becoming a barrister."

We are incredibly proud of all our graduates and inspired to hear about their academic journeys and the unique impact they are now making. Congratulations once again, Banafsha Elhami!
