Who do I work with? Leaders, healers and creatives - people committed to their own self development, who are willing to dig in and do the work. ✨

Often, they are seiving through dirt, seeking gold. We find it, together.

Some just need a sounding board. Because dealing with life’s curve balls and chronic illness; or working in your own business; and living in remote locations can feel isolating.

I get it. 😅

Most people sign up for a 3 session pack, initially. They can achieve great results in this time.

The majority then choose to upgrade to a 6 month, and often 12 month, coaching series. The transformation is noticeable and they recognise that change takes time.

It works. 💥

They then successfully exit the program, and graduate from our time together.

I get to know you, well. Your confidentiality is guaranteed.

And if I feel like I’m not the right person for you, or if during our time together I can see you need medical or other professional support, l will always let you know.

l often make referrals to other practitioners I know and trust.

👉 It’s your journey, and it’s all about you.

I never dreamed of a career in mental health, nor did I want it. Certainly not as a an adventure seeking archaeologist (my first love). But life happens, and mine has been one of many divergent, yet interconnecting paths.

I have grappled with the complexity, uncertainty and fragility of mental health challenges — my own and those of others I have loved. It started with my mum. She lost her way and we lost her, early. The black dog continued its reign in our family. I nearly didn’t make it, myself — though that is not something I have often discussed publicly, because bites.

For me, the most acute and intense time came in partnership with significant health issues and life changes. I’m talking big stuff, like stroke and open heart surgery at 33. That, together with a relationship breakdown, the collapse of a charity I had started and job loss, my mind and body broke. I then developed, at times crippling, /CFS which I have been wading through for years. My body was overwhelmed with post traumatic stress.

But I didn’t give up. Having survived — those closest to me know how bad it got — I rose again. I continued the work advocating for new integrated systems and approaches to mental health, through on-the-ground action, research, teaching, and later writing for the State’s leading newspaper. I continued the fight I started over a decade ago, being a voice for systems change and holistic wellbeing — mind, body, spirit, nature, community.

I grew weary with the cause. Right when I did my first love, archaeology, called me back. It’s been joyous, a breath of fresh air. Over the years I have develop what you might call a portfolio career. It’s one that nourishes different parts of me at different times; and allows me to use my skills and experience in different arenas to, hopefully, do a world of good.

If you’re a leader, healer or creative looking to grow yourself and your business, I can help you. I am only taking a limited number of new coaching clients this year. If you’d like to work together - DM me.

Sitting on the rim of this 22 million year weathered landscape, I was able to breathe. There is nothing like an expansive sense of deep time to draw your view into perspective.

We are but a spec in this time-space continuum. The thing that helps make sense of it all, is nature. That’s where I go to feel whole. Yet in doing so, I discover my own insignificance in it all. Deep time, deep in nature — a highly recommended immersive experience.

I’ve been slow returning to work this year, I’m sure glad I have. Now I’m ready for the slow evolution and unfolding of the next chapter. 🌿

Social Farming - Gardening Australia 22/11/2022

Did you see the North Freo Social Farm on Gardening Australia?

The farm was established in 2016, with 2 years of planning prior to that, and a lot more following it, with a revitalisation in 2019.

So many people have contributed to this jewel — providing their support, time, skills, networks and dollars over the years. It’s been a labour of love and is run by the local community with an excellent board and paid farmer at the helm.

Startups are hard work, and this one certainly took a lot to bring it to life, navigating those arduous and uncertain early years. But it’s thriving with a sustainable business model that took a few interactions to work out.

For me, during Covid, the farm was the only place that felt safe in a sea of fear. And it’s the place that helped me get back on my feet after a few of my own bumpy times.

We need more of these farms in Perth and WA — the benefits are profound.

Check out the wonderful team in this episode of Gardening Australia. You might spot a familiar face or two. 😄

Thanks to Josh Byrne, Costa Georgiadis, and the Gardening Aus crew for stopping by.

Social Farming - Gardening Australia Costa meets up with Josh at an urban farm in the heart of vibrant Fremantle created to nurture the social, physical, and mental health of the community.

So amazing to see the seeds of a dream, which started back in 2014, now realised. The spirit of life and community that flows through this place is truly something and the farm crew are phenomenal.

Now I just get to come and sip tea, pick veggies and occasionally get my hands dirty. How lucky am I?!

It takes a village to raise a farm, especially one with a mission to nourish the community - mind, body and spirit.

This is Social Impact in action, and we need more of it in the world. Small scale urban agricultural is where the future is at.

“Modern life is riddled with complexity and the amount of information we’re consuming on a daily basis is mind-bending.

Scientists have estimated that as much as 74 gigabytes of data is being filtered through our brains each day. That’s like watching 16 movies over 18 hours.

This constant sense of chaos and speed is causing a great deal of stress and disease and many people are starving, emotionally and spiritually, because of it.

But living simply is key to a good life.

The external world can be seen as a distraction, one that keeps us locked in a particular, and binary, way of thinking — it can limit our sense of internal freedom and expansion.

Simplicity demands patience, and patience requires presence

Be mindful of what you consume and choose your thoughts, words and actions wisely. They matter, as they shape your reality and influence your sense of peace in every moment.

Creating simpler ways of living means removing unnecessary distractions and doing less. Time is precious. Don’t whittle away your life with overthinking and too much stress.

As author and psychologist Richard Carlson contends, it’s important to let go of worry. “Don’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff”, he says.

It helps to gain a wider perspective. Laying on the ground and staring up at the sky gives you an expanded view and offers new ways of seeing things — it can help to remind you of the bigger picture...”
