Our special group art activity for “Friendship Week”. As a centre we feel it is important to teach the children the importance of friends and friendship groups. We also feel we create a very friendly environment and we think of all our families as friends rather than clients.
The children loved this activity and it followed on from our “Coffee Catch up” which had baby cino station, biscuit station and marshmallows. We have had a very busy week and the kids have loved it.

We have been so busy the past few months with heaps of professional development and we have started a new development board. Please take the time to read it.
We will be focusing on a developmental area for approximately 2 months and looking at different theorist that work with the way we run our centre.
This month we will be following Language development and working together as a centre to focus on Vygotsky theory. Please feel free to have a look at our board for more information on this theorist.
We would love parent input as usual so feel free to pop a comment of here or own our amazing new board.
One of Vygotsky’s quotes is “What a child can do today with assistance, he/she will be able to do by herself tomorrow.”

What a wonderful week it has been here at Little Creatures!
We have seen some incredible new changes in our Toddler room- totally transforming the atmoshpere with a new Natural play space that the girls have introduced and implemented. Using a variety of natural and recycled materials to create a homely feel to the room - Thank you to all the families who cooperated with our carers and involved themselves in the project by adding to the environment with their own recyclables to encourage sustainable play for our terrifically energetic tots! We appreciate family involvement and participation throughout the centre, If you have any materials at home you would like to see our tiny 2's playing with please feel free to bring them in.
In Babies we have seen some super sensory exploration- The bubs have been using their hards to extend on fine motor and finger manipulation by painting ice! This acitivty couldn't have caught their attention any better with multiple "More more" requests! They didn't seem to mind the cold ice between their hands as they continually watched the paint liquify and melt towards the bottom of the tray. This has then opened the world of colour mixing for our intrigued little bubs!
A Massive thank you to Our Qualified Julie in the Baby Room for surprising four of our Birthday girls with a Cake to share among the carers, what a wonderful team we have here!
Over in the Kindy Room the girls have been super focused on their letterland projects, using the phonics based program to introduce all the letters of the alphabet with fun and quirky characters. Each of these Characters have had a two week focus since the beginning of the year and boy have we had some fun! The Kindy's have just begun learning about Vicky Violet who's here to help teach the letter V! Each morning the children Engage with the carers to listen and sing along to our Letterland mat session routine of a welcome song, a story book, an interactive app on the tablet, a letter song to then be followed by an open discussion to encourage brainstorming on all sorts of words that the already children know and can extend on! The children chose VEGETABLES as their art focus today and decided to freely express their interpretation with coloured crayons - tapping in to their inner artists!
We were very excited to learn that Little Creatures gained a little yellow visitor over night- Mr Minion! One of the LC Neighbours kindly invited us to join the community activity that involves the surrounding families in small minion sleepovers - Offering for us to use one of his recycled Minions for the day just like the other children in Duncraig!
The Toddler and Kindy children were involved in a Minion Hunt for their thursday entertainment- Finding the little yellow fellow resting out in the garden, hiding away from the rain! We value our involvement within the community and take pride in participation between all the rooms - The children learn to cooperate and work together as a centre while socially expanding their knowledge on the world around them!
We look forward to the week ahead - Holding our Halloween Dress Up day on the 31st of October- We cant wait to see what creative and inventive costumes you each come up with!
Happy Thursday From the team at Little Creatures

The kindy and toddler rooms had a huge adventure today. We made our way to Duncraig Library. We crossed the road so well and walked beautifully as a group. The children loved the walk and enjoyed chatting the whole way. We arrived in perfect time to the library and Jenny, the librarian, read us some stories about animals and we sang some songs. The children sat so nicely and listened well. We even taught Jenny a new song, Baa Baa Pink Sheep. She was so happy with all of us that we completed an art activity. We made paper bag cat puppets. The children all then received a special backpack with some books, stickers and magnets. They all used their manners beautifully and thanked the librarians. We then made our way to a little park area where we had a muffin and played on the equipment. The children then walked back to the centre perfectly again. The day was a huge success with the librarian saying we can come back any time. We would like to thank the staff at Duncraig Library, also our staff who did a fantastic job, but mostly the children for behaving so beautifully. We had a great time taking them out and we were so proud of them.

We were lucky to have the Duncraig Fire Station visit us today. The kids had a ball, especially our own resident firefighter Seth. The kids got a chance to go through the truck, look around the truck, sq**rt the water hose, hold the heavy helmets and of course hear the siren. We have heaps of photos so please feel free to ask the staff. Thanks to the Duncraig Fire Station.

Quiet time is upon the resting babies. The children will soon welcome these new babies into the Kindy room!
This set up is an example of some of our follow up activities the children can engage in.
Some of our friends have welcomed new babies into their families in the last month or so and we want the children to get a feel of what it is like with new babies in the house.
Have you got any experience you would like the Kindys to try?
