The Benefits Of Outdoor Sleep Times For Children
Natural light exposure - This resets the body clock and adjusts with circadian rhythms, and you produce more melatonin for a more restful sleep, unlike artificial light, which interferes with sleep quality.
Increased immunity - Plants give off phytoncides to protect themselves, which humans can benefit from lower blood pressure and other health boosters.
Better functioning of body and brain - Higher quality oxygen will improve the functioning of the brain and body for better productivity, mobility, recovery, and more. Whereas stale inside air laden with carbon dioxide can lead to lethargy and a slower metabolism.
Reduced stress - Just seeing trees has been proven to reduce stress levels, as has listened to the sounds of nature and the outdoors.
Reduced illness - Air conditioning spreads germs and dries up children's sinuses, leaving them open to infection. One centre reported that over an 11-week period during winter (when colds and flu are usually rife), they only had a total of less than 1 per cent of absentees, which they attribute to outdoor napping
Improved learning - As children sleep longer, deeper and more serenely when outside, they're more refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to learn when they wake. Their cognitive attentiveness, alertness, and awareness are higher compared to napping indoors.
Better physical and emotional development - Outside sleeping can increase children’s brain, bone, and muscular development, along with their social and emotional wellbeing.

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing educator Emma and her wonderful children for all their hard work in our front garden today! 💚
We really wish we had taken a before photo because the transformation already looks incredible! There’s still a little more work to do, but what has been achieved so far is absolutely amazing.
It’s through community involvement, teamwork, and people like Emma and her family that our centre continues to grow and thrive. Thank you for giving your time, energy, and care to help make our environment even more beautiful for our children and families.
We appreciate you so much! 💕

🦖 Welcome to the fantastic Wardong Dinosaur Museum! 🦕
Our eager Wardong children have been on a dino-adventure, exploring fantastic fossils and ancient creatures as part of our exciting term project — and now, they’re bursting to share their discoveries by opening their very own museum!
In this dino-quest, the children are diving into a world of prehistoric wonders — from different types of dinosaurs to how they roamed the Earth and what they gobbled up. This museum is a colourful showcase of their curiosity, creativity, and new knowledge.
Inside, you’ll find a lively collection of artwork, fun dinosaur crafts, and cool learning displays, all carefully created by the children and teachers. They’re super proud of their work and can’t wait to show you around.
If you have a moment, come on in and explore — our little paleontologists are excited to show off their incredible creations! 🦴

Did you know that one of our greatest strengths is our low staff turnover?
Our team is made up of passionate, dedicated educators who truly love what they do—and it shows. We’re incredibly proud to have educators who have been part of our centre family for 13+ years, building strong, lasting relationships with children and families along the way.
When our educators do move on, it’s often for exciting life moments—like starting families of their own—or after many wonderful years with us, deciding to try something new.
What makes our centre extra special is that many of our educators choose to enrol their own children here too. To us, that means we’re more than just a centre—we’re an extended family, built on trust, connection, and genuine care. 💕
We currently have vacancies available in our Long Day Care, as well as Before & After School Care and Vacation Care programs.
📧 Contact us at [email protected] to book a tour today!
Thank you for being part of our journey!

🌟 Supporting All Children’s Safety: A Message from Moolanda
At Moolanda Care and Learning Centre, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and included — whether they’re with us, at school, or out in the world. Today we want to shine a light on an important initiative started by one of our own Moolanda families, parent Jade Robeck, who has courageously shared her family’s experience to help protect other children.
Jade has launched a petition calling for life-saving intramuscular injections to be administered in Australian schools for children who may suddenly need them due to medical conditions like diabetes or adrenal insufficiency.
Right now, many state schools are not equipped, supported, or confident in providing immediate medical care in emergency situations — even when every minute counts. This can limit families’ choices and place unacceptable pressure on parents, carers, children, and school staff.
Like so many of our families, we’ve had the privilege of caring for Jade’s son at Moolanda for over two years. We’ve seen firsthand the dedication that parents bring to keeping their children safe, and we deeply respect the strength it takes to advocate for change that benefits our whole community. 💙
This petition isn’t about special privileges — it’s about ensuring fairness, dignity, and safety for all children. It’s about giving every family peace of mind that their child’s health needs are understood and prepared for when they are in a school environment.
✨ We encourage you to learn more, share the story, and consider adding your voice. Together, we can help amplify this call for thoughtful, compassionate policy change that puts children’s health front and centre.

Thank you to Jade — and to every family and educator working to make our communities safer, kinder, and more inclusive. 💛
With hope and support,
The Moolanda Community
