--OUR PHILOSOPHY--
Moolanda Care and Learning Centre prides itself on being a caring enviro

nment, a home away from home. Our aim is to provide learning opportunities that build upon each child’s strengths whilst challenging them to explore their potential. Children are encouraged to ask questions to gain an understanding of the world and their place in it. We believe each child has a voice and at Moolanda each child is encouraged to express it. Through play, the children become involved learners and develop an awareness of their own confidence and abilities. The environment in which the children play should be loving, accepting, safe and secure as well as being a place for spontaneity. Children are given the opportunity to experiment and explore to allow their curious minds to make magic! Whilst encouraging children to be risk takers, explorers, problem solvers, collaborators, scientists, mathematicians, story tellers and artists, we encourage each child to achieve their best socially, emotionally and academically. Our aim is to create a smooth and caring transition from home to Moolanda through partnerships with families and our local community. We aim to utilize these partnerships within our curriculum to optimize each child’s learning, connection and contribution to their community. We believe our families are our greatest resource and we encourage their participation and feedback to support our continuous improvement. At Moolanda we embrace and accept cultural diversity and encourage equity through our daily practices. We invite families to be involved in our annual calendar of events to celebrate cultural traditions and celebrations. Our curriculum responds to children’s ideas and play whilst using intentional teaching to scaffold and extend each child’s enjoyment in learning. Critical reflection, current knowledge and individual interests are the foundation of our program. Our Educators at Moolanda are thoughtful, they show love, care and respect to every child and their family and pride themselves on the relationships that they build. Our Educators regularly seek out opportunities for themselves to learn, grow and demonstrate in their day to day practices. The knowledge gained from external training sessions are embedded into our curriculum from ‘how to write an observation’ to the creation of resources to facilitate and extend on children’s learning and development. It is our belief that when our children, Educators and families of Moolanda intertwine, it creates the unmistakeable essence that is unique and recognised as that of ‘Moolanda Care and Learning Centre.’

Today, we joined children all across Australia in celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime!

Together we shared the story "Luna Roo" and had so much fun exploring all the wonderful animals we could spot throughout the book. We also chatted about the sport being played and shared our own ideas, observations and experiences.

National Simultaneous Storytime is always such a special opportunity to bring children together through storytelling, imagination and conversation

Thank you to our educators and children for making today full of curiosity, discussion and lots of smiles!

As we look back on all of our adventures, we’re feeling so grateful for the amazing support from our families. Thank you for choosing to enrol with us and for trusting us to be part of your children’s school holiday memories.

Over the holidays, we’ve explored exciting places, enjoyed creative experiences, challenged ourselves, made new friends, and shared so many laughs along the way. Every day has been filled with opportunities to learn, play, discover and create unforgettable moments together.

Our Vacation Care program is all about giving children experiences they’ll remember — building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome and included.

To all of our families — thank you for your ongoing support, flexibility, encouragement and for being part of our OSHC community. Seeing the children arrive excited each day and hearing their stories has made this program so special.

And of course, a huge thank you to our incredible educators for making each day possible!

📸 Take a look through some of the amazing places we’ve visited and memories we’ve made together.

We already can’t wait to plan the next Vacation Care adventures!

🌿🌱 Outdoor Classroom Day 🌱🌿

We celebrated Outdoor Classroom Day by taking our learning outside and spending time caring for our beautiful garden spaces.

The children explored, discovered and connected with nature while helping to water, tend and care for our garden beds. Through these experiences, children develop responsibility, teamwork, an appreciation for the environment, and a sense of pride in creating and maintaining our outdoor spaces.

There’s something special about learning in the fresh air and watching our garden continue to grow, thanks to many helping hands. 🌱🌞

The Benefits Of Outdoor Sleep Times For Children

Natural light exposure - This resets the body clock and adjusts with circadian rhythms, and you produce more melatonin for a more restful sleep, unlike artificial light, which interferes with sleep quality.

Increased immunity - Plants give off phytoncides to protect themselves, which humans can benefit from lower blood pressure and other health boosters.

Better functioning of body and brain - Higher quality oxygen will improve the functioning of the brain and body for better productivity, mobility, recovery, and more. Whereas stale inside air laden with carbon dioxide can lead to lethargy and a slower metabolism.

Reduced stress - Just seeing trees has been proven to reduce stress levels, as has listened to the sounds of nature and the outdoors.

Reduced illness - Air conditioning spreads germs and dries up children's sinuses, leaving them open to infection. One centre reported that over an 11-week period during winter (when colds and flu are usually rife), they only had a total of less than 1 per cent of absentees, which they attribute to outdoor napping

Improved learning - As children sleep longer, deeper and more serenely when outside, they're more refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to learn when they wake. Their cognitive attentiveness, alertness, and awareness are higher compared to napping indoors.

Better physical and emotional development - Outside sleeping can increase children’s brain, bone, and muscular development, along with their social and emotional wellbeing.

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing educator Emma and her wonderful children for all their hard work in our front garden today! 💚

We really wish we had taken a before photo because the transformation already looks incredible! There’s still a little more work to do, but what has been achieved so far is absolutely amazing.

It’s through community involvement, teamwork, and people like Emma and her family that our centre continues to grow and thrive. Thank you for giving your time, energy, and care to help make our environment even more beautiful for our children and families.

We appreciate you so much! 💕
