On Monday, I caught up with Caralee Community School P&C President Rachel Wedgwood, CCS Principal Cherie Dobbs, Fremantle Language Development Centre P&C President Jessica Fleury and FLDC Principal Nichola Middlemiss to check out the now-complete Outdoor Classroom!

I am proud to have supported this important project for both CCS and Fremantle Language Development Centre with a pre-election commitment of $100,000 for students to enjoy reading and learning while outside!

🌿✨ This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week — celebrating the history, culture, resilience and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Throughout last month, students across all three of our sites have taken part in a range of learning experiences and celebrations, honouring the rich traditions, stories and contributions of Australia’s First Nations peoples.
Yesterday, we came together for our final NAIDOC celebration at our Willagee site, beginning with a Smoking Ceremony and dance performance, followed by a day of whole-school activities including damper making, kangaroo tail stew cooking, traditional art and storytelling activities.
Thank you to everyone involved in making these celebrations such a meaningful experience for our students and community. 💛🖤❤️

🌿✨ Our New Outdoor Learning Spaces Are Here! ✨🌿
Over the school holidays, you may have noticed some exciting changes to our school grounds at our Willagee campus. The area between A and D Blocks has been transformed into beautiful new outdoor learning spaces, providing engaging environments where students can learn, collaborate and connect with nature.

This project began last year following the State Government election commitment by local Member for Bicton, Lisa O'Malley MLA. In partnership with Caralee Community School, the project was shaped through consultation with both students and staff to ensure the spaces reflect the needs of our learners and provide optimal conditions for outdoor teaching and learning.

We are excited to see these spaces come to life and look forward to incorporating them into learning experiences across both schools. The new areas have been intentionally designed to support curriculum delivery, small group learning, oral language development, collaboration and student engagement in an outdoor setting.

We look forward to sharing the many ways our students will benefit from these wonderful new learning environments.
