We all want the straight line. Set the goal, achieve the goal. B
ut life doesn’t work like that.
The path is messy, full of doubts, setbacks and failures.
And that’s exactly where the growth is.
The detours are not distractions, they’re the process.
Keep moving.

What makes you happy?
Where does that fall on your to-do list?
Is it one of the first things to stop when you get busy or overwhelmed?
The advice I often hear when someone is overwhelmed is to figure out what to stop doing... but there is also advice that we need to ADD something regularly that makes us happy!
I think the answer is AND!!!!!
1. Makes sure you STOP doing the stuff that isn't essential and is often about keeping other people happy, AND
2. START doing something everyday that makes you happy. It doesn't have to be something big, it could be a small thing each day, AND
3. Make sure you've got something planned for YOU - something that YOU want to do and can look forward to.
What do you think?

The power of taking a PAUSE!!!!!
Soooooo - I didn't think I could do it, and I nearly didn't until I took moment to pause and reset. Until that point fear was winning.
The back story...we decided to do a hike in Norway that consisted of 1978 steps (equivalent to 115 floors!), it was easy in that there are stairs the whole way (stone stairs of varying heights), but it wasn't easy at all if you're afraid of heights at all. In many places it feels like there's a drop-off on either side.
I got to 330m and just could go any further, my fear of heights was winning and I was worried about climbing back down. So Wayne continued and I was quite happy to wait for him and very happy that I had got that far. In the back of my mind though...I didn't want to give me. 15 minutes later when Wayne posted a photo from the summit I had to give it a go. I'd had time to PAUSE, reset and refocus on just taking the very next step.
That's exactly what I did, and I made it. Was I afraid? Definitely, but by chunking it down to the very next step, almost anything is possible.
Slowing down, pausing, allowed me to choose and take control of my next step.
When did you last PAUSE and reset? If it's long overdue - JOIN us in Bali in September.

Sounds simple doesn't it...but it doesn't feel that simple to me.
I have to unlearn a life time of habits...to replace those habits created to please others, created to do what I should, to achieve quickly, to be busy...
What is the best version of me? Who do I choose to be?
How do I find the AND? What is the journey I want to take AND how does this fit with the journey of those I love around me?
BUT
I can start with taking care of me! With taking time out regularly to do what I want.
With making sure my voice is heard.
With choosing not to put myself second all the time.
With slowing down and allowing time...
Who do you choose to be?

Have you been 'finding a way' or 'finding an excuse' lately?
Do you really want that something? or not.
One question I find very helpful is ...
"You can either feel DISCOMFORT in doing the hard/new things or you can feel discomfort by doing nothing". Which one do you choose?
Excuses might make things easier in the short term, but they usually make things harder in the long term. You choose where you want to feel discomfort.

Being BRAVE can feel different for everyone.
✨Our life stories are different, our strengths, our shortcomings, our passions are often different.
✨ What looks like BRAVE to you can look easy and comfortable to someone else and vice versa. And what might have been easy to you in past could need you to be BRAVE now...life happens.
✨ Be BRAVE, however that looks to you, keep taking the next step (big or small), keep moving forward, keep choosing growth.
PS. It took a fair bit of BRAVE to climb all those steps (1978 actually)... I'll share the whole story in a separate post. Spoiler alert - I made it to the top even though along the way I didn't think I could.
