Tis a very sad day for our industry! Poor Peter and what a lot he did for is all.

We are saddened to hear of the loss of an industry legend. Peter McMaugh AM, a life member of Turf NSW passed away last night at the age of 90.

Our deepest condolences to his wife Rae and all of Peter's family.

He has devoted a lifetime to the turf industry and continued to work right up to his passing. It was only last week that we talked about some projects for next year that could assist the industry.

His knowledge, experience, opinions and support will be very much missed.

Rest In Peace Peter.

Brown lawns and gardens don’t cut it for urban cooling 13/12/2025

It’s the lead up to Christmas and we all want beautiful, natural turfgrass to play and eat on and be cool on. Most of our turf farms shut down a few days out from Christmas and come back in the new year. Order early and take note of your watering exemptions to get your turf to set and perform early please see here

Make sure you make the best of everything available to start a new lawn now.

‼️NOW IS THE TIME TO APPLY A WETTING AGENT TO YOUR LAWN‼️

WA soils can dry out extremely quickly as they build silica over time, making them waxy and hydrophobic (water-repellent). This means your lawn might be getting watered… but the water never actually reaches the roots!

Untreated hydrophobic soil:
💧 Water won’t pe*****te into the root zone
➡️ Irrigation runs off or evaporates
🌱 Roots stay dry and miss out on essential moisture, nutrients and nitrogen

Treated hydrophobic soil (with a soil wetter):
💧 Water pe*****tes deeply and is held in the root zone
🌿 Moisture, nutrients and nitrogen stay available, even with inconsistent irrigation
🙌 Healthier, greener, more resilient lawns

That’s why it’s SO important to apply a good-quality wetting agent like Aquaforce or Bi-Agra 💧
These products are effective, long-lasting, and help keep your lawn lush and thriving through spring and summer! 🌱😎

AG Buffalo Turf Supplies is located in Baldivis.
Whilst it is one of our smaller farms and focuses on domestic supply of Sir Walter the original, sales of the soft leaf buffalo are always in demand.

The amazing thing about owner Graeme Ferguson is his dedication to utilising natural products to improve soil health and water holding capacity.

He is always trying out new products and studying them to make sure that they are safe and effective and sustainable.

The quality of his turf grass is exceptional.
