Our ASBT students at Cannington recently took part in a collaborative artwork project as part of the unit LWADIV102 – Investigate Personal Role in Society and in preparation for National Reconciliation Week.

Working together in small groups, students explored identity, culture, teamwork and personal connection through art and storytelling.

These projects not only support learning outcomes, but also create opportunities for students to collaborate, build confidence and engage in meaningful conversations with their peers.

At the AFR Workforce Summit this week, leaders were asked how young people should prepare for an AI-driven future.

Jason Pellegrino, President at Domain Group, had a clear answer:
Get a job in hospitality or retail.

Because that’s where you learn how to:
• deal with difficult people
• solve problems on the spot
• communicate under pressure

Skills that AI won’t replace.

At VTS, this is exactly what our students build every day.
Real experience. Real confidence. Real outcomes.

🍞👨‍🍳 What a fantastic day for our students from Ursula Frayne Catholic College!

The group headed to Foodbank WA for a hands-on hospitality experience, where Chef Chris taught them how to make focaccia, club sandwiches, and pinwheels from scratch. The best reward? Eating everything they made! 😄

For students with dreams of a career in hospitality, it was a real-world taste of apprentice life — and they absolutely nailed it.

The day also included a tour of Foodbank WA, an incredible not-for-profit operating across every state and territory in Australia and a certified member of The Global Foodbanking Network, spanning more than 50 countries worldwide.
