Open BIM is not a utopian dream, rather a dream come true.

No longer is BIM focused on my platform vs yours, or yours vs mine. It is now an exciting arena filled with pushing limits, not creating boundaries. Open BIM is no longer something simply spoken about during lunch, rather something WEBBER Australia and our fellow colleagues put into practice each day on this exciting, collaborative focused project - 480 Hay.

Hi All,

I started a discussion on Linkedin last weekend. The focus of this discussion is 'Methods for minimising file size'.

There have been some great responses thus far. I highly recommend taking a look as you get an insight into how some of Australia's leading ArchiCAD users and BIM Managers tackle extremely large files (2-6GB on the BIM Server).

Click on the link below to see this discussion, although I am unsure whether you need to be registered with both Linkedin and the group within Linkedin named 'Graphisoft Australia ArchiCAD User Group'. This may be a perfect reason for beginning a Linkedin profile as it is proving to be a great social bump space for BIM users.

Get involved! Get social!! Gain knowledge!!! And spread it!!!!

Saying this reminds me of an image a colleague posted on Facebook recently. I'll add it below also. Cheers Mr S.L

ArchiCAD 16 - BIM Server - Scheduling a Project Backup 29/09/2012

With the release of ArchiCAD 16 comes the ability to schedule teamwork project backups to not only save as .BIMProject files, but also as .pln files. If you have ever discovered something within your model has been deleted, modified or even broken (curtain walls) you will know the time delays associated with accessing .BIMProject backups. However, the introduction of .pln backup files, saved within the BIM server and accessible for download via the Project settings > Backup panel allows users to efficiently open a backup alongside the current file so as to copy & paste the required elements.

Place Names of Australia Search - Geoscience Australia 27/06/2012

I just discovered a great Australian website for finding the longitude and latitude values for places in Australia. Simply type in the town or city and it will give you a list of locations in that area.

This is perfect for creating accurate sun studies as you can input the longitude and latitude values into the 'more sun settings' found within the projection settings.

See link below and please do not hesitate to ask questions.
