🌾 Why We Started Happy Hen Hire
Happy Hen Hire began from something much more meaningful than a business idea.
During a time in my life when I was healing, I discovered the quiet companionship of backyard chickens. They became an unexpected source of comfort, helping me slow down, reconnect with nature and find a sense of peace in the middle of busy suburban life.
Each morning, watching them scratch for bugs, dust bathe in the sunshine and happily chatter to one another gave me a sense of grounding that I hadn't expected. Looking after them wasn't a chore—it became part of my own healing journey.
Before long, I realised something else...
Children and adults alike were fascinated by them.
People would stop to watch them, ask questions and smile as the girls wandered around doing what chickens do best. They reminded us that happiness can often be found in life's simplest moments.
That inspired **Happy Hen Hire**.
Our hope is to give other families the opportunity to enjoy that same experience—whether it's for a child's birthday, a fun family weekend, a school holiday activity or simply to discover what life with backyard hens is like.
As an added bonus, our girls naturally help:
* 🐔 Teach children where eggs come from.
* 🌱 Scratch through gardens looking for bugs.
* 🥚 Provide fresh eggs.
* ❤️ Encourage children to care for animals with kindness and respect.
* 🌿 Bring a little bit of farm life into suburban backyards.
We believe every child should have the chance to experience the simple joy of collecting an egg, hearing gentle clucks in the morning and learning that every animal has an important role to play.
