On this day International Workers Memorial Day, it’s important to think about the role of training in helping to make workplaces safe.
The Construction Skills Training Centre is committed to training workers in health and safety so that fewer and fewer workers and families are attending funerals of loved ones because of deaths at work. These deaths are preventable.
We have strong work health and safety laws in WA and Australia and we need strong representatives that know and understand them so they can be an active part in the consultation process to protect workers.
Fact: When workers and their representative are listened to, workplaces are safer.
The CSTC sends our condolences to the workers families whose loved ones have not returned from work, and we will be part of the fight to reduce workplace deaths in Australia and internationally.

This our first group of workers at Elizabeth Quays to be trained in preventing silica exposure in the workplace. Big shout out to SRG who have already had three groups of workers trained at ECU and are in the process of training up their entire workforce about the dangers of the dust, congratulations to SRG for caring about their workers and educating them. Get your employers on board, your health and safety matters

CSTC provide hearing tests for construction workers at no cost to you with appointments available almost every weekday morning.
Under WHS regulations your employer must provide hearing tests to all employees working in noisy work environments.
These regular hearing tests help protect you from hearing loss and provide information about your baseline hearing that helps you claim compensation if you do get hearing loss at any point in your career in construction.
Your employer must complete forms for Work Cover before your hearing test can be done.
Contact your Union Delegate or HSR to get started.
