BRIEF TERM 1 2024 TSAT RECAP 🥁

The first term of 2024 has flown by and it's been a busy time here at the studio with many new faces this year!

Firstly, congratulations and welcome to the current TSAT Class of 2024:
Lucy (2018), Molly (2019), Antonio (2020), Arissa, Charlotte, Miles, Alice, Eva (2021), Jasen, Steve, Tom (2023), Isaac, Elio, Emily, Ruby (2024)

With multiple successful auditions and exams, all of you have shown immense progress this term and I'm looking forward to seeing you perform at Percussion All-Stars 11: WORLD STAGE (15 June) and 2024 (30 June - 6 July) 😌

And a shout out to our graduating members of 2023: Zac (who is now in his first year at WAAPA doing percussion), Adrian (who is now a trainee pilot), and Nicola (who is now working full-time) - I love seeing all your bright futures after your time here!

In addition, TSAT has now expanded its shop and will be retailing Black Swamp Percussion products starting from July 2024 - so keep an eye out for some crazy deals at Marimbafest 🥁

I'm now off to Hiroshima this week to perform and present my first solo masterclass in Japan, so see you back in Term 2 for a monster of a term as we prep for all of the above 😌

AUDITION PREP LESSON COMPLETE 🇺🇲
fiore is all the way from Philadelphia, and he's is both a powerlifter and a percussionist plus his passion for marimba is awesome - any school would be lucky to have him!

I delivered a fun 1-hour lesson reviewing his audition pieces - the popular Prelude from Bach's Partita in E major and one of my favourite virtuosic solos favoured by competitions around the world, Luminosity by 🌌

Joseph is prepared really well already for his audition schools, so today we examined certain details, tricks and techniques he can use to give them his best shot ☺️

We're all cheering for you here in Australia Joe, best wishes for your audition!

FAREWELL TO ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL STORY 🥹

Today, I said goodbye to the amazing Adrian who joined TSAT in 2021 as a high school student wanting to expand his marimba skill, and is now going on to be a PILOT! ✈️

Since then, Adrian has:
- ranked highly in Marimbafest Australia 2022 and 2023 competitions as a soloist - almost made top 3 in 2023!
- performed multiple times as a soloist and in the amazing Defying Gravity Percussion ensemble
- auditioned successfully for numerous youth and community orchestras
- went on to study a Diploma at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA)

Adrian is now leaving TSAT having completed difficult works like Cheung's Etude in E minor, Abe's Prism and Oetomo's Life Anew and more! His hard work will be missed in the studio 📖
