Another one to drive the point home that Tai Chi does work... I always say that any Martial Art can work in Self Defense, it just depend of how you train yourself to apply the techniques to that end. Brush Knee, Push Forward move, used in Tai Chi but also in every other martial arts, is a very common fighting technique, demonstrated here by a combat professional from the Foreign Legion, who uses hand to hand combat technique in war zone for a living, as a defense against a knife attack. If this guy says it works for real, I think we can trust it.

Tai Chi is often described as "meditation in motion," and is widely accepted as an effective tool in helping to develop strong mind-body connections, and furthermore, Tai Chi’s slow movements will reinforce your understanding of biomechanics principles.
The tai chi form is a set of slow and relaxed movements, which develop your balance, strength, flexibility, body-alignment, and coordination. Slow movements will help you control your body much more effectively. With better control of your body, comes more relaxation, which in turn develops fluidity, accuracy and power, vital elements to live a happy and healthy life.
Qigong (or Chi Kung) translated as "breath work" or "energy work," consists of a few minutes of gentle breathing exercises combined with movement. By learning to control your breath, you also learn to control and settle your mind. Mental skills and strategies enhance an individual's overall performance and focus.
There are little doubts that anyone can benefit immensely by adopting Flow Tai Chi as a form of cross-training with the practice of other sporting activities, or by itself. Just give it a go, first class if FREE!
