•HONOURING OUR ANZACS•

Today Year 10-12 students from our Senior Choir and Year 11 Student Dexter Humphries took part in the Anzac Ceremony at the Department of Education Central Office.
It was a pleasure for us to be involved in this significant and important service.
Year 12 Aly Moulton read an Anzac Sonnet and Year 12 Maria Ayre sang a verse of the New Zealand National Anthem in Maori.

A privilege for both staff and students involved!

•HIRE A THEATRE KID•

Our Associate Principal of Lower School, Ms Raya Sara gave a rave review for our Theatre (Drama) students in the latest parent tour. Here is her review and photo from their visit to the Performing Arts Centre which reminds us that the saying ‘you need something done, hire a theatre kid’. Ms Sara said:

During our Parent Tours (around 80 parents in total), we love doing a few “drop-ins” to classrooms.

[After visiting many classrooms where students were engaged but reluctant to speak to a large group of parents]

We walked into the Performing Arts block.

Ms Bell’s Year 12 class — completely different energy.

The parents were instantly engaged, and the students expertly demanded their attention. They were begging to present, perform, and ‘convince’. It all culminated in one student confidently addressing the group:
“To all the Year 6s here — Performing Arts is the best department. We’re like a family, and the Carine community is the most amazing thing you’ll experience. Hands up if you want to do Dance, Music or Drama!”

About 50 hands shot up instantly… including a few parents.

We really do love our Drama community and the Arts culture at Carine SHS 🎭 ✨

•BIG BRASS BAND•

Today the New York Staff Band Salvation Army visited Carine SHS for a concert and workshop with our brass and percussion students 🎺

A few of our brass students even got the opportunity to play alongside the band for “New York, New York” 🗽

An unforgettable experience and a thrill for our students! ✨

•CONGRATULATIONS•

Congratulations to 2025 year 12 student
~Orla Gardiner~ for her successful entry into the incredibly competitive Bachelor of Screen Production at ECU.

Orla was a multi-talented Arts student while she was at CSHS having excelled in Drama, Dance and Visual Arts. She was an integral part of the student leadership team in many Arts projects including as director for our whole school musical POPSTARS.

She is also dedicated to the industry outside of school in her role as producer last year and currently as director of production

We know Orla will continue to go from strength to strength in her course at ECU and we can’t wait to see what she does next!
