An Italian movie with dinner night that was held on Friday the 25th of June 2021 at the Glyde-In.
We watched "My Big Gay Italian Wedding", a 2018 Italian comedy-drama film.
This movie is set in the northern part of Lazio region, named Tuscia (once upon time lived by the Etruscans who were at their height in Italy from the 8th to the 5th century BCE, and they were rivals and to a degree precursors to the Greeks).
Watching the movie you can particularly enjoy Civita di Bagnoregio (approx 100km north of Rome), one of the most beautiful little towns of Italy (renowned as "la città che muore", "the dying city", because it is crumbling as it is built on tuff, a brittle stone) together with Canale Monterano (renowned as "la città fantasma", "the ghost city") only 50km from Rome.
We also shared some dishes from that region that were mentioned in the movie, such as spaghetti all'amatriciana, gnocchi al profumo di bosco, coniglio (rabbit), trippa (tripe), biscotti. We had wine from Lazio and a taste of Nocello.
In the weeks leading up to this movie night, the students had the opportunity to learn more about Italy and its traditions.
It was a funny and successful event!
