🎉 Congratulations, Andrew — CPL(H) achieved! 🚁

A huge congratulations to Andrew on earning his Commercial Pilot Licence!

Andrew’s training journey has been one built on persistence. He stayed committed over a long period of time and put in plenty of work outside the helicopter as well as in it — and that effort showed, with a very strong result at the end of his training.

Getting your CPL isn’t just about the hours in the logbook. It’s the study, preparation, setbacks, early starts and determination to keep showing up and improving.

It’s been great having you train with us, Andrew, and we’re proud to see all that hard work pay off.

🚁 Applications are NOW OPEN for the 2026 Ritter U’Ren Scholarship!

The Ritter U’Ren Scholarship was established in memory of Peter Ritter and Gavin U’Ren, two pilots who were passionate about the agricultural aviation industry and inspired so many throughout their careers. Their legacy lives on by supporting the next generation of ag pilots.

The successful applicant will receive:
🚁 A Low Level Endorsement, or
🚁 5 hours of Advanced Emergency Training.

What’s included?
✅ All helicopter costs
✅ Instructor costs
✅ Examiner costs

Training will be conducted at Jandakot Airport and must be completed within 12 months of the scholarship being awarded.

Who can apply?
• Open to applicants Australia-wide
• Hold a PPL(H) or CPL(H), or be due to obtain your licence within the next two months
• Have fewer than 500 helicopter flight hours
• Current Jandakot Heli-Co students are not eligible

How to apply
Email [email protected] between 1 August and 31 August and include:
1️⃣ Your contact details
2️⃣ A little about yourself, your aviation journey so far, and your ag-aviation career goals
3️⃣ A reference letter and the contact details of someone currently working in the agriculture or aviation industry

📅 Applications close 31 August, with the winner being drawn at random on 1 September.

As part of accepting the scholarship, the successful applicant agrees to participate in a short interview and feature in a Jandakot Heli-Co social media post during their flight training so we can share their journey and celebrate the next generation of ag pilots.

Earlier this month, Graydn and Jack headed to Darwin to attend the AHIA Robinson Helicopter Company Pilot Safety Course.

It was a fantastic few days filled with learning, networking and sharing experiences with other Robinson operators from around Australia. The course covered valuable insights into Robinson helicopters, safety trends from around the world, and gave everyone the chance to discuss the unique challenges of flying Robinson helicopters here in Australia.

At Jandakot Heli-Co, we’re always looking for ways to learn, improve and keep up to date with the latest safety knowledge and industry best practice. Opportunities like this help us continue providing the highest standard of training and operations for our students and customers.

A big thank you to AHIA and Robinson Helicopter Company for putting on such a worthwhile event. We always enjoy the chance to learn from others in the industry!

🎉 CPL achieved! Congratulations to Paul Evers on earning his Commercial Pilot Licence. 🚁

Becoming a commercial pilot takes commitment, consistency, and a whole lot of hard work—and Paul brought all three to every lesson. He approached his training with an incredible work ethic, always willing to put in 110% to keep improving. That dedication has paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder to see him reach this milestone.

Paul has been a fantastic student to have around the school, and we’re excited to see where his flying career takes him.

The only thing we couldn’t teach him? That sandwiches quite obviously taste better when they’re cut into triangles, not rectangles 😂

Congratulations, Paul! Thank you for letting us be part of your journey, and we can’t wait to see where your career takes you next.

We sat down with Hugh to hear about his experience, his advice for future applicants, and what the scholarship has meant for his flying journey.

Applications for the 2026 Ritter U’ren Scholarship open 1 August and are available to pilots who hold a PPL or CPL to complete either their Low Level Endorsement or 5 hours of Emergency Flying training.

🌈 A rainbow like you’ve probably never seen before.

Did you know rainbows are actually full circles? From the ground, the horizon usually hides the bottom half, but from the right vantage point, you get to see the whole thing. 🚁

Graydn Doak was lucky enough to capture this incredible sight while flying a coastal job today. Some days the office view is hard to beat.
