Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we support children from 6 weeks to school age grow as curious, capable learners.

At Nido, we believe that every day shapes the person a child will become. Book a tour today and see how we make every day matter ๐ŸŒฑ

Today our babies in Classroom 1 enjoyed a beautiful sensory play experience with gloop. The children explored the soft and squishy texture using their hands and fingers, carefully patting, squeezing and watching how the gloop moved and changed. Sensory experiences like this help support our babiesโ€™ curiosity, fine motor development and confidence as they learn through touch and play. There were lots of smiles, giggles and messy fun throughout the experience!

This week Classroom 1 have been endlessly exploring the new resources within their environment โ€” the sensory tile mats. These engaging mats have encouraged curiosity, sensory development, balance, movement, and imaginative play as the children enjoyed discovering the different textures, colours, and patterns through hands-on experiences. ๐ŸŒผ

Today at Nido Early School Balcatta we have been incredibly busy cooking and baking for our Biggest Morning Tea tomorrow in support of the Cancer Council. ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ

From Classroom 1 right through to Classroom 5, everyone participated in this beautiful cause, delivering hands-on cooking experiences for children of all ages. It has been wonderful to see each classroom working together, building confidence, creativity, and teamwork while contributing to such a meaningful event.

We are so proud of the effort, enthusiasm, and care shown by all of our children and educators as we prepare to support this important cause together.

Our Worm Farm ๐Ÿชฑ ๐Ÿชฑ

Worm farm is a hands-on experience for the children that encourages curiosity, responsibility, and a connection with the natural world while introducing early concepts of Composting, Sustainability and Circular Economy.

Children learn about:
Reducing food waste
Caring for living things
Nature and Sustainability

Children help by:
Collecting vegetable and fruit scraps from the kitchen
Feeding the worms
Observing changes over time

Worms turn our vegetable and fruit scraps into rich soil and โ€œworm teaโ€, which is a natural liquid fertiliser that can be used to help our plants grow. It is collected from the bottom tray of the worm farm, which contains rich nutrients produced by the worms as they break down food scraps. The worm tea is then diluted with water and can be used on any plants similar to watering them.

Worm tea helps:
Plants grow stronger,
Improve the soil health,
And supports sustainable gardening.

Today we celebrated a beautiful Motherโ€™s Day afternoon tea, and what a wonderful turnout it was! ๐Ÿ’

It was such a lovely afternoon spent with our amazing mums and grandmothers, creating special memories and sharing heartfelt moments as they made gifts with their children. Truly a day filled with love, laughter, and connection. ๐Ÿ’•

Last week, we had the wonderful opportunity to welcome our lovely Sayumi from Nature Space Yoga, who led an incursion for the children in Classrooms 4 and 5.

It was a beautiful experience where all the children were actively engaged, learning different yoga poses while also sharing plenty of laughter with their peers. It was so lovely to see them building confidence, balance, and mindfulness in such a fun and supportive environment.

We look forward to more enriching experiences like this in the future!

Giving our beloved piano a second chance, it has been sitting closed in our piazza for quite some time. We decided to move it into Classroom 5 so that all the children have the opportunity to play and explore it throughout the day. ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽต
So far, it has been a massive success. The children are learning how to respectfully play the piano, using their fingertips and developing both their confidence and appreciation for music. ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽถ

This week, Classroom 2 had the opportunity to make their own ANZAC cookies. The children enthusiastically took part in the process, pouring, scooping, and mixing the ingredients together.

Classroom 2 were invited to take part in a hands-on painting experience this morning. This activity supported inclusion, as children were able to participate in ways that suited themโ€”whether walking, standing, or sitting.
The children showed great interest in painting on the transparent surface and enjoyed being able to see through the wrap as they worked.
As part of our ongoing inquiry into the ocean, this provocation was thoughtfully set up to encourage the children to explore and create their own interpretations of the blue ocean. ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŒŠ

Today we transformed our yard into something truly beautiful and full of colour ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒˆ

The children were absolutely delighted, running around with excitement, naming all the different colours they could see. Their curiosity was so sweet โ€” gently pulling at the flowers and plants just to see what would happen next.

Moments like these remind us how magical simple things can be through a childโ€™s eyes โค๏ธ
