Photography and the building a profitable business behind it. By Mel Cieslik

Here's a before and after shot! I focused on cooling down those warm yellow tones and softening the shadows. Precision posing is like the foundation of a breathtaking masterpiece and it's all about getting the first shot right! It also makes your life so much easier in the editing room. πŸ’•

Sibling poses are a whole adventure on their own, aren't they? πŸ“Έ It's like trying to direct a mini tornado while keeping your precious newborn safe and serene.

The age gap and energy levels can make it quite a challenge! I always ask the family to bring a few snacks and toys that they can play with.

So here are some sibing photo inspo!

Images 1 and 2:
Laying down shot. Have the older sibling lay down next to the baby, hands lovingly placed on the belly or gently cradling them. If they're a bit older and more confident, they might even be able to hold the baby with guidance.

Images 3 & 4: Posing a group of siblings with or on the beanbag. How gorgeous are they!

Images 5&6: Add siblings without holding the baby. Whether it's a gentle touch on the baby's tiny fingers, a little kiss on their forehead, or even a sniff of that adorable baby scent. These candid moments are great and you don't even have to show their faces.

Save this for your next newborn shoot! πŸ’•

In your photography journey, no matter how good you get there'll always be someone seemingly "better."

But their path is theirs, not yours. So, instead of comparing yourself to others, only focus on your own path and celebrate your personal growth and accomplishments. πŸŽ‰β

Every step is a step forward, each challenge is a chance to learn. So, never stop learning and keep our eyes on our own path, not others because that will start to eat you up.

If this hits home, share a recent win with me in the comments below and let's celebrate it together!

Have a look, you'll notice the biggest difference is me enhancing those sweet and soft skin tones.

I'm not one to spend hours editing because I put my effort into nailing that perfect shot right from the start.

No generic blanket wraps here – I'm all about mastering precision posing.πŸ’•

From those delicate baby fingers to the cozy wraps, every detail matters to me.

When you capture babies that look comfortable and relaxed, potential clients are more willing to invest in you. πŸ“Έβœ¨

2 AI feature you need to know to streamline your editing workflow as a newborn photographer. πŸ‘‡πŸ»

1) There is Imagen AI (it connects with Lightroom)
2) Retouch-4-u (in Photoshop)

Now, don't get me wrong – I've given both a whirl. They're a nifty starting point, but it doesn’t do all of the work.

Mastering the art of editing, especially when it comes to those delicate baby skin details, is the real deal if you would like to stand out in your industry and deliver a great customer experience for your customers.

I will be giving you a sneak peek at how I edit them on Friday and you get the front-row seat. Stay tuned! πŸ’•

My top 3 tips for a Stress-Free Newborn Photoshoot! πŸ’•πŸ“Έ

1️⃣ Communication is Key! πŸ’Œ Always provide your clients with more than enough information upfront to eliminate the email ping-pong.

2️⃣ Prop set up: Set up which props and wraps that you are going to use before the shoot, then invite your client to review and approve them before moving forward. This ensure that they are 100% happy with the outcome of the photos.

3️⃣ Plan your session. If you are just starting out, avoid getting flustered during the shoot bymapping out the session's flow, considering the poses you'll attempt and the props you will be using in order.

Save πŸ“Œ this post so you can refer back to it later!

Running your own photography business is a dream come true, but it's not always rainbows and sunshine. The reality is, keeping everything organised can be a real struggle if you want to build a sustainable business.

Do you have a CRM in your photography business? πŸ‘‡πŸ»

I didn't start off as a photographer! In fact, my life took a delightful path with unexpected twists and turns that ultimately led me to build a 6 figure newborn Photography business!

In the early days of my career, I was a Radio announcer. This has helped me hone my communication skills with clients, and it gave me all-around confidence to deal with clients and lead the session without feeling self-conscious! πŸ“»

I then worked in the West Australian in advertising and as a sales and marketing executive for a recruitment company. I acquired invaluable marketing experience that seamlessly integrated those skills into marketing strategies for my photography business!

On the side, I am also a jewellery designer and additionally, my love for capturing the beauty of women has led me to study model portfolios at Central TAFE.

This knowledge has allowed me to master the art of capturing the most flattering angles during maternity shoots and embracing the beauty of postpartum bodies.

So, there you have it – a little glimpse into my multifaceted journey! I've learnt from every experience, as each job added a unique touch to my photography skills. πŸ“Έ

I would love to know, what were you doing before becoming a newborn photographer? πŸ’•

Editing MUST-KNOWS if you are a newborn photographer wanting to separate yourself out from the competition!

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Stork mark
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Baby acne
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Dry/flakey skin
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Bruising from birth

Also, some babies have quite mottled skin tones, due to circulation, especially in winter, so learning to edit these is an amazing skill to have.

In the Photographer's Resource Membership, we will have editing webinars to learn these Lightroom and Photoshop techniques so that you can that ensure your images are consistent and print-ready!
