This rule made all the difference for me. I used to tidy room by room and I would always experience a rebound soon after.

Tidying by category forces us to face the amount of stuff we have. And it is overwhelming. But only then do we realise the reality. It’ll be uncomfortable at first, but you will never have to do it again. And that’s worth it!🙌🏻

A couple of months ago, I became a certified KonMari consultant. I’m over the moon to start a new career and I wish I can spread the joy with as many of you as possible.✨

To become a certified KonMari consultant I had to tidy my whole house according to the KonMari method, attend a 3-day online seminar, complete 30+ hours of practice tidying sessions with clients, write reports about it, pass the exam and have the final interview. And I loved every part of it!💛🙌🏻

The key to successful tidying is to discard first. You can plan the storage once you've decided what to keep and what to get rid of. Only then will you have a clear idea of how much space you have.

Thinking about where you're going to store it all, or worrying about whether it's going to fit anywhere, will only distract you from deciding what sparks joy, and you'll never be done.

Therefore, utilize what you already have (shoe boxes, tissue boxes, glass jars…) and consider all this storage temporary. Then, when you're finished, you can start planning your long-term storage solutions.

This rule is crucial! Determining our ideal lifestyle will help us to keep going when we feel like quitting. Trust me. Everyone experiences those feelings at least once on their tidying journey. (Me included!) That’s why it is so important to get clear on why we want to tidy and how we want our life to look like when we’re finished. So be specific about the lifestyle you are striving for.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

What do I want my ideal home to look like? How do I want to feel in it? What people do I want to be surrounded with? How do I want to spend my weekends? Do I love the work that I am doing?

Write it down, sketch it out in your notebook or cut pictures out of magazines and create a vision board.✨

KonMari method has changed my life.

It taught me not only to liberate myself from stuff that distracts me from myself but also to let go of my past self and discover who I am today and who I want to be. We are often told how we should live, what we should like, and how we should behave. During this self-reflective journey, you will shed all those layers and start anew.
