Hi all! A little bit of a life and biz update for this as I’ve been a bit MIA 💚

It’s been 6 months since Borrowed by Baby, and what a whirlwind experience! They aren’t lying when they say when you quit your 9-5 to run your own business you then work 24/7! When I started Borrowed by Baby I was coming to the end of my mat leave and about to head back to my role as a Risk Manager. I love my job and my team and I was lucky enough to go back part-time and saw this as a opportunity to start my passion business on the side.

Fast forward 6 months down the track to now, where I’ve been feeling like I’m dropping all of the balls I’ve been juggling; work, mum/home-life and running a business. Throw in trying to sell a house/buying new, and hubs working 24/7 and a limited to no village - something has had to give before it breaks.

Unfortunately that means I will be closing our BbB subscriptions to new subscribers for now (but not forever). This is so I can continue to provide a level of service to our current subscribers and to keep BbB going until things get a little calmer on the home front ❤️

I apologise to any of our followers who were hoping to subscribe but at this stage I’ve gotta put my mental health & family first.

But as they say, when one door closes, another window opens 🌈 and so I will be announcing shortly a new service open to Perth-based residents only (for now). Stay tuned, Borrowed by Baby isn’t going anywhere! 🙌

Hello, Secondhand September!

is a challenge led by to raise awareness on the impact of fast fashion on our planet and how conscious consumerism, such as buying secondhand, can make a real difference 🌏

So what does the the challenge entail?

💚 Shop only second hand for the month of September (30 days)
💚 Reducing the impact of fast fashion
💚 Share your outfits on social media

Sure, its much easier to ‘add to cart’ than to sift through the racks at your local Op Shop but it really is a great feeling shopping secondhand, knowing that you’re minimising your environmental impact, practicing slow fashion whilst also saving money!

I’ll be sharing some of my favourite secondhand finds in the Borrowed by Baby Shared Wardrobe, as well as some of my personal favourite items in my own personal wardrobe.

So, will you be joining the challenge?

Is it possible to avoid accumulating a mountain of kids clothing in those first couple of years?

Yes! Absolutely! 🙌

But it’s not an easy fix or something you can buy. What needs to change is a shift in our consumption mindset!

By adopting a change in mindset about how we consume we can become a more conscious consumers.

A reduction in our consumption means less demand for new clothing and directly impacts the fast fashion model – which means less resources are used, and less pollution is created. 💚🙌🌏

Coz it likely just ends up in landfill anyway…🤦‍♀️

We’ve had quite a few new followers so I thought it timely to pop in and say…

Hey 👋 I’m Stevie and I’m the founder of Borrowed by Baby.

I’m a wife to my highschool boyfriend (if dating for 2 days counts!?) and a Mum of one adventurous little boy, Mr C, who is almost 18 months old 🥹

I’m also a Risk Manager by day, have a Degree in Counterterrorism (wanted to be a spy 🤪) and an eternal environmentalist 🌱 with a passion for slow fashion and thrifting!

I founded Borrowed by Baby to help make it easier for parents to dress their baby or toddler sustainably, without compromising on the cute clothes ✨

Borrowed by Baby was born in March this year and we’re already dressing over 20 babies/toddlers from around Australia and giving parents a tiny chunk of their time back! 🤩

This can often not feel the case when we have reluctant governments and industry dragging the chain but when the collective consumer majority adopts sustainable living practices as the norm and begins demanding change through their wallets, the cogs will move quicker ⚙️
