Djilba season has arrived! Spanning the August to September period, is a transitional time of the year and is considered by Noongar people as the season of conception, or the growing season.
The woodland birds will still be nest bound and very protective of their still vulnerable young, hence the notorious swooping protective behaviour of species like the koolbardi (magpie) and even the djidi-djidi (w***y wag tails).

Yesterday we enjoyed a virtual breakfast for Reconcilation Week at our local BullCreek Library. invited First Nation leaders to share their thoughts, stories and reflections on their journey to Be a Voice for Generations.
We’re excited to be part of the movement to help build a better future for all First Nations and Australian people.
Today is National Sorry Day and we acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all share in the healing process.
The removal of children broke important cultural, spiritual and family ties and has left a lasting impact on the lives and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ❤️

Learning about safety and how to call for help in an emergency could save someone’s life and we can teach this to young children. Following our St John’s 000 Hero safety program, the children enjoyed playing doctors and paramedics! The children got to explore inside a real ambulance too!! 🚑⛑️

We made a few small changes to the car mechanic play space and turned it into a car wash and detailing area. During this time a few of our children were interested in cars and this interest was extended into other areas of play and learning. We also organised a real car wash outdoors and a few children at a time gave Pippa’s little mini a wash and polish! 😍🚘 We took our bus on an excursion to the car wash too! 🚐😁

A Royal Tea Party in the Cedric Smith Park with some special guests who also give service to our community.
We shared a cuppa and some delicious scones with our friends from Leeming Retirement Village. Mr Cedric Smith himself and his family attended as well as local councillors, Police Horse Service and Aunty Betty who conducted a Welcome to Country and story for the children. The children performed a concert and crown parade for our guests and families. This was a lovely space and afternoon to bring everyone together. ❤️👑🫖☕️

Last year in June 2022 we celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee of 70 years service to the people of the Commonwealth. That’s a massive achievement and commitment! The children loved the high tea party set up, the jewels, the dress ups and pretending to live in a castle! Sharon did a wonderful job dressing up this area for a creative play space. We held a real Royal tea party too! 👑💕💍🫖🧁

National Reconciliation Week, 27th May-3rd June is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The theme for 2022 was “Be Brave, Make Change!”
We also held some important events in our community. We continuously work towards our RAP and provide positive learning experiences in daily routines. This was a beautiful area for the children to play and learn.
