Thank you to all our families for wearing yellow in recognition of National Reconciliation Week and for supporting this important opportunity to reflect, learn, and come together as a community.
Today, our children engaged in a variety of meaningful art experiences designed to encourage exploration of culture, connection, identity, and belonging. Through creative expression, the children were invited to learn about the significance of reconciliation and the importance of respecting and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, and cultures.
These experiences encouraged conversation, curiosity, collaboration, and reflection in age-appropriate and meaningful ways, helping our children develop an understanding of inclusivity, respect, and community.
Take a look at some of the beautiful art experiences our children explored throughout this special day.

Today at Nido Kingsley Nest, our children enjoyed a special shared story experience reading Luna Roo Simultaneous Story Time alongside early learning services, schools, and libraries across Australia as part of a nationwide celebration of literacy and learning.
Experiences like these play an important role in supporting early language development and fostering a lifelong love of books. Through shared reading, children build foundational literacy skills including vocabulary, listening comprehension, imagination, sequencing, and communication. Participating in simultaneous story experiences also helps children develop a sense of belonging to a wider learning community beyond our classroom walls.
Throughout the story, the children were encouraged to engage in meaningful conversations, predict events, explore new words, and express their ideas and emotions. These interactions support outcomes aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, particularly children becoming confident communicators and involved learners.
Reading together from an early age strengthens connections between children, educators, and families while nurturing curiosity, creativity, and confidence in emerging literacy skills.
We encourage families to continue enjoying stories together at home, as even a few minutes of shared reading each day can make a significant difference in a childโs language and literacy development.
We loved being part of this special Australia-wide literacy celebration today!
Warm regards,
The Nido Kingsley Nest Team

Take a look at our Toddler Group outdoor provocations project ๐ฟโจ
Our educators have been thoughtfully creating engaging outdoor spaces inspired by the childrenโs ideas, interests, and voices. Using the Reggio Emilia approach, natural resources, and open-ended experiences, these environments encourage curiosity, exploration, creativity, and meaningful play.
Be sure to speak with our educators and explore their scrapbooks to see the childrenโs voices, learning journeys, and inspirations behind each space ๐๐
