Are you unsure about putting your prices on your website? Or maybe worried your competitors will see your prices?
Well, I got some news for you - you might want to rethink your approach.
And I get it, there's a lot of fear about putting your prices on your website, but let me talk about all the reasons you SHOULD be putting your prices on your website.
1๏ธโฃQuickly build trust with your clients
If you don't have prices on your website, it can cause people to doubt you. Doubt leads to mistrust and mistrust leads to not buying.
2๏ธโฃ Saves everybody time.
Think about when you've been looking for something. You're looking for something to help you. Your life is already full of all-the-things and you don't have time to dick about with email ping-pong ๐
โโ๏ธ
You want to know how much this is going to cost, even if it's a ball-park figure, before sending an enquiry or booking a discovery call.
Plus, it saves you time. When I ask clients how much time they waste with back and forth 'tire-kicker' emails, the answer is generally A LOT!
3๏ธโฃ Reduces fear of the unknown.
When somebody doesn't understand a part of the process they are more likely to say no.
People are also really awkward around pricing conversations and can be afraid to ask. Just imagine how many people could easily afford to work with you but are too embarrassed to ask?
A lot of business owners claim they don't have prices on their sites because they don't want their competitors knowing their prices.
That's the surface issue, but I believe it goes a lot deeper.
I think it has less to do with competitors and more to do with not believing in your own pricing.
We all face price competition, but let me remind you of something about 'bargain-hunter' clients - they are HARD WORK. Like, seriously, the worst. And you know it.
Yes, you might get fewer enquiries but that's a good thing!
The people who enquire are keen to work with you and are already happy with your prices.
So tell me, do you have prices on your website or are you on the fence about putting them up there?

Want a quick way to tell if you're running a business or have an expensive hobby?๐ค
How do you feel about doing stuff for FREE?
Cause if you keep working for free - you're not valuing your time and you'll end up resenting the f**k out of what you do - and ain't nobody wants to feel that way ๐
โโ๏ธ
You have a unique skill or ability and people WILL pay you for it, but not if you don't value your own time.
So, if you've been a soft touch (hello, guilty ๐โโ๏ธ) then it's time to start setting boundaries and valuing your time and your talents.
Too many women worry about being seen as a 'bitch' (oh, that dreaded word - but that's a post for another day) and take on too much when deep down you're screaming at yourself for not being firmer with the people around you.
Here are four prompts to help you have a firm, but respectful, conversations with clients - and the occasional friend or family member who should know better (not my own, but I don't know the original source to credit):
โ
'Thank you for thinking of me, this sounds like a great fit. Can I check if this a ๐ฉ๐๐ข๐ ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ?'
โ
'This sounds like an interesting project! Here's a link to the ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐๐ฌ ๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐ซ. I think # # # would be the best fit' or '...here's a copy of my media kit, which includes my rate card.'
โ
'Thank you for considering me for this. Unfortunately, I'm unable to take on any ๐ฎ๐ง๐ฉ๐๐ข๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ๐ฌ at the moment, but if that changes in the future I'd love to get back in touch.'
โ
'Thanks for your enquiry. I'm unable to give detailed advice via DM's, but here's where you can book a consultation and I have a wealth of free resources at (insert website links).'
I'd love to hear how you've dealt with this in the past - or have you been too much of a 'people pleaser' to say no?

Ever bought a gym membership and never used it? ๐โโ๏ธ (I'd raise two hands up, but I'm so weak from not using my gym memberships...)
But seriously, your website is just like that gym membership you bought and used a couple of times then, well, kinda forgot about 'cause gyms are hard, and how do you use all the stuff and why do I look like I ran the Bostom Marathon after 5 minutes on the cross-trainer?๐คทโโ๏ธ
And just like that gym membership you never use, or kinda use, but you're not really sure about what you're doing - you're probably not seeing results.
Let me tell you, I feel this pain deep because I am a naturally unfit person. So unfit when I first joined a gym at uni, they wouldn't let me join unless I worked out with a trainer once a week for 6 weeks because they were afraid I'd die or something (also, I had an undiagnosed hole-in-the-heart at the time, probably didn't help).
But what did help is working out with the trainer.
She was amazing.
She helped me build up my stamina on the bikes and got me started on lifting weights (really, really, really light ones).
She taught me good technique which I've had ever since and had trainers comment on, even if they have 80-year-old clients who can lift more.
But most importantly, I got RESULTS.
After 6 weeks I was so much fitter and stronger and I could ride the bike for 20 minutes. I felt like a MFking superstar ๐ช
Your website journey is no different.
Here's the thing - we don't know what we don't know. I didn't know there was so much to learn when I joined the gym, but I was so thankful I had a guide to show me what to do (and not to do).
When you work out with me, we work on different muscles, but I sure as hell will put you through your paces and have you flexing muscles you didn't know you had.
And best of all, you'll see results.
If you've been afraid of stepping into your website, then let me guide you through the process and show you just what you are capable of achieving with a little bit of personal training โค๏ธ

โกDIVI TIME SAVING HACKโก
This is such a quick and easy thing for anyone to do and it will save you SO. MUCH. TIME.
If you're currently frustrated every time you make a change on Divi because you need to look up your brand style guide then this is about to make life so much easier.
1๏ธโฃ Select the Divi Theme Options from your WordPress Dashboard. It's generally right down the bottom or near the bottom
2๏ธโฃ In the first tab - the General Settings tab - you'll see the colour pickers default palette about the fourth option down.
3๏ธโฃ Click on each colour (the default ones are pretty naff ๐) and replace the hex code - the alphanumeric code with a # eg for white - with the one from your branding style guide.
4๏ธโฃ Repeat with all the colours in your style guide
5๏ธโฃ The first two colours are black and white - always leave the white and I often leave the black in there, too.
6๏ธโฃ If you're not going to use one of your brand colours for the main body text, then I recommend grey as opposed to black. Whatever you do, don't go too light. #333333 is a pretty good contrast against white.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
If you don't see these options there could be a few things happening.
โ You could have a really old version of Divi. If you do, you want to make sure you update to the latest version. However, before you do this make sure you have a recent backup of your site and then update all of your plugins FIRST before updating your version of Divi
โ You didn't hit save. I know, it sounds simple, but I cannot tell you how many times that happens...
And voila! You've just saved yourself a butt-tonne of time not having to go back to your style guide and cut and paste colours every time you want to update something on your website or change the colours.
If you're wanting to know more about how to save time (remember time is money) then get in touch and book a 1:1 Divi Training Session and start making Divi your BITCH.

Want an easy way to make sales feel, well, less 'salesy'? ๐โโ๏ธ
First up, we need to understand the reasons ๐๐๐ people buy, and there are only four reasons.
Yep, that's it - only four reasons.
When we focus on how we can ๐๐๐๐ our clients, creating copy that 'sells' is easy.
No one cares what your product can do, but they sure as f**k care about their time, money, social status or feeling part of something bigger than themselves.
Next up is step two of this dance routine.
Don't tell people, show them.
๐ฐ ๐๐๐๐๐
Do you reduce costs, or make it easier for their clients to buy from them.
Example - I recently helped a client reduce her bounce rate (the number of people who leave your website as soon as they see it) from over 70% down to 42%. That's meant more people viewing her products and more of those people are buying! More money, baby ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ
โ๐๐๐๐
Time is money, remember. You can save time by spending money so never underestimate how much people will spend to gain time.
Example - when my clients know how to do s**t on their own websites, they are saving time. Time to spend with family, time to make more money...
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Now, don't worry, this isn't just a designer handbag -but it could be. Some people relate business success to social status.
Example - I've helped clients rank no1 on Google which gives their business status, but also make them the industry go-to. Increased brand awareness has helped them grow their business
๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Humans yearn to be part of something bigger. Focusing on how you help people feel part of something can keep clients coming back to you and referring you to friends who feel the same way. It could be a commitment to fair-trade, ethical employment practices, special offers, or insider knowledge.
Example - I'm committed to helping women see tech as something they CAN DO, not just something for guys
Now, make a list of how you can help with all of these key areas - I bet there are more reasons for people to buy from you than you're currently telling them.

Want to know what almost 8 weeks without Instagram feels like? ๐โโ๏ธ
Pretty f**king great, actually.
But as Instagram is a part of my marketing strategy (part, because Instagram itself is NOT a marketing plan) I need to be on here because that's where my ideal clients spend their time.
And if there's one thing I know about marketing it's 'be where your market is'.
So after a big break from all social media, I'm back on Instagram and back in my business and I'm pretty excited.
I needed the break because how I was working wasn't working for me.
It wasn't working for my family and it wasn't working for my physical or mental health.
So after playing around with various ADHD meds, I seem to have landed on the right one and I'm ready to hit the ground running again and start helping you!
๐Yes you, small biz owner who shudders when they think of doing anything on their website

By keeping my services simple.

You'll learn how to use Divi + WordPress to create your new site with a 4-hour intensive covering all the basics, then homework each week with 4 weekly 60-minute calls (via zoom).

๐ WEEKEND READS TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS ๐
These three books below will fundamentally change your business - for the better.
1๏ธโฃ 'Predictably Irrational' by Dan Ariely show us just how predictably irrational humans are at making choices.
Surprisingly, we don't all make the best choice everytime, but are influenced by a multitude of psychological, environmental, and societal norms that sees us making choices that actually go against our best interests.
Understanding these decision-making biases will help you uncover the reasons people make those decisions and has many marketing examples.
2๏ธโฃ 'Building A Story Brand' by Donald Millar is hands down the best guide to help you communicate your brands unique value to your customer.
Humans have evolved to learn through stories. We retain more information from stories than simply reading information (kinda like how you can relate almost everything in life to an episode of Friends, but all that important stuff about your tax return makes your eyes glaze over).
We love stories about a hero, about their journey, and ultimately about the triumph of good over evil (think about the plots of your fav movies - you'll see the pattern)
Story Brand helps you plot out the heros journey of your brand (FYI, that's your customer and not you) with easy-to-action prompts at the end of the core chapters in the book.
Total must read for all business owners, especially those in marketing.
3๏ธโฃ 'Start With Why' by Simon Sinek highlights how starting with why helps inspire people to action, whether it's business, politics or social action.
Poor marketing explains your what and your how, but great marketing helps people understand why they should buy from you.
When consumers have a clear understanding of WHY your product or service will make their lives better, they are far more likely to engage with your brand.
๐ Drop your favourite business book below. I'd love to hear why you love it and how it's changed your business
31/03/2021
F**k, Gilly! I hear you say - that's a bit harsh. Yep, and guess what, you probably need to hear it. Nanna G (officially my nickname among friends) is gonna tell it like it is ๐
This is business - and as my partner, Kim keeps telling me we're not here to put shoes on millipedes...
What we are here to do is serve our customers and we can't help people if they don't care about our business.
And the only way to get people to care about our business is to make sure they know you care about them.
Like I said, we're here to serve our clients with our awesomeness, but it's kinda hard for them to get excited about you if, well, you're not particularly excited about you ๐คทโโ๏ธ
My first business idea didn't really take off - you know why? Because I really didn't care about what I'd created.
I saw a need in the market, and I still think it's a great idea - but it didn't light me the f**k up the way helping people with their online marketing does.
And so it kinda fizzled out (but it did lead me to where I am today, so yay!)
So how do we get people to give a f**k about our businesses?
You gotta tell them you care. You gotta show them you care. You gotta keep telling them and showing them because announcing it once and hoping everyone hears you is not going to cut it.
Remember, customers have one thought - what's in it for me. True story. They might like you as a person, but if they can't see the value you bring, well, you won't get to bring it - ever.
And the reason I'm telling you all this, straight-up without pulling any punches, is because I CARE A FU***NG MOUNTAIN about your business.
I want you to succeed.
I see all the awesomeness and talent out there and I don't care if you pay me or not for this advice - I just want you to have it because you deserve to thrive.
Not just scrape along - but to THRIVE.
I want you to make a commitment, not just to me, but to yourself, that you're going to start talking about the value you bring to your clients and how much you care about their success no matter what you do or sell - we all make a difference in peoples lives.
Focus on that, and people will start to focus on you.

First up - how cute is my little girl, Neptune? ๐ถ Trick question, I already know she's adorable ๐๐คฃ
But seriously, she's a local celebrity.
Everyone at school knows her.
People come up to me just to pat her. I've talked to more people in my suburb in the past year than in the previous six years I've lived here.
Right, cool story, Gilly - but what's this got to do with my website? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
People remember Neptune because she doesn't look like all the other dogs in the neighbourhood.
People want to pat her because she seems approachable and friendly.
People want to know more about me because Neptune has broken the ice.
Your website is Neptune.
Wanting a website that looks like everyone else's is NOT going to get you noticed, so stop trying.
Trying to make a 'sophisticated' website, with a side of mystery is not going to cut it unless you're a world-famous brand. Sorry, but you're website needs to ensure you seem approachable.
People don't want to think, they want to feel connected.
I recently tried to book a service from a website that had no information when I first landed on it - like nothing.
A few 'inspiring' pictures, but that was it.
And that alone had me questioning what I should do - for a split second I had to think, then I began to question. Doubt was creeping in, and once doubt creeps in about anything, it influences all future decisions you'll make on that site.
Ends up, I didn't book the thing I wanted to do, because I just felt a little unsure about the whole process.
So have a look at your website and tell me honestly, do you get the warm fuzzies when you first look at your website? Do you think your customers feel the same way? Or are you a bit wary or unsure if you should proceed or if this is even the right place to be?
Not sure if your website instantly screams 'pat me' (metaphorically, obvs ๐) then book a free 15-minute mini audit with me and see what we uncover.
Shoot me a DM to book your mini audit - I have two spots left this week.
