Sometimes we’ll look at a different bible passage each day; other times we might slow down and look at the same passage from different angles for the whole week. The studies are intentionally text-focused, taking you through the biblical text and its application, rather than being driven by a topic or life issues. At the end, there are some brief questions to take with you during the day – ponder
them as you shower, commute, or whenever else you’re alone with your thoughts. If you’re highly disciplined, you can keep up with each new reading on the day they’re posted. But if you’re like me, don’t worry – just work through at your own pace. The dates are simply a way of organising the posts rather than a schedule you have to follow (and feel guilty when you don’t). Scripture reading should be a pleasure, not a chore! So sit down, grab your bible (or go online at biblegateway.com) and a coffee (as long as it’s Fairtrade), and start reading! A bit about me:
I’m a lecturer in New Testament at Morling College, Sydney, Australia, which is the Baptist Theological college of NSW & ACT. I was a pastor for 12 years at Narwee Baptist Church, in Sydney’s southern suburbs, and still attend there with my wife and two boys. Theologically, I’d describe myself as a small “r” reformed evangelical, if that helps you pigeon-hole me – but I’m not a big fan of labels. I’m a big believer in letting the biblical text do the talking. I think that’s why my areas of research involve the social background and rhetorical intent of the New Testament.
