π Friday FAQ π¦πΊ
Is the 186 Direct Entry nomination assessed more strictly than a 482 Skills in Demand nomination?
π In many cases, yes.
Because the 186 visa leads directly to permanent residency, the Department may scrutinise:
β Position genuineness
β Business operations
β Financial capacity
β Long-term employment need
This can be especially important for smaller or non-accredited sponsors.
π Unsure whether your employer nomination is strong enough?

π Thursday Thoughts: Student Visa Integrity and VET Provider Scrutiny π¦πΊ
Australia has announced a 12-month suspension on new applications for CRICOS registrations and courses to ASQA for certain VET and ELICOS providers seeking to teach international students.
The aim is to strengthen quality, integrity and scrutiny in the international education sector.
π What does this mean for students?
It does not mean genuine students should panic.
But it does mean students should be more careful when choosing:
β
Course
β
Provider
β
Study pathway
β
Long-term career plan
β
Migration strategy
The Department and regulators are continuing to focus on genuine study, provider quality and student visa integrity.
π A rushed course change or poor provider choice can create problems later.
π Unsure whether your course or study pathway makes sense for your future plans?
Speak with Better Life Migration before making a decision.

π Wednesday Wisdom: ART βOn the Papersβ Review Process π¦πΊ
Visa refusal review? Your written evidence may now matter more than ever.
Recent ART changes mean certain temporary visa review matters may be decided without an oral hearing. This is often referred to as an βon the papersβ review.
π What does this mean?
β The Tribunal may rely heavily on documents and written submissions
β Applicants may be asked to provide further written evidence
β Missing deadlines can seriously affect a review
β Not every matter will necessarily involve an oral hearing
β ART members remain responsible for final decisions
π Why this matters:
If your review is decided mainly on documents, your written submissions, evidence and response strategy become critical.
A weak or incomplete review file may be harder to fix later.
π Facing a visa refusal or considering ART review?
Speak with Better Life Migration before lodging or responding.

Tuesday Takeaway: Post-Invitation Changes Can Create Visa Risks
Have you received a skilled migration invitation and now want to add your partner?
Be very careful.
For invitation-based visas, the information declared in your EOI and relied on at the time of invitation can be critical. Changes after invitation may affect:
β
Points claims
β
Partner points
β
Relationship status
β
Eligibility
β
Evidence requirements
β
Overall application strategy
Even where a partner has English results or a skills assessment, adding a partner after invitation should not be treated as a simple update.
π The risk is not just about uploading a new document. It is about whether the application remains consistent with the invitation and the points claimed.
Migration strategy matters before you receive an invitation, not after.
π Unsure how a relationship change may affect your PR pathway?

π Tasmania Skilled Migration Update: ROIs Closing Soon π¦πΊ
Planning to submit a Registration of Interest for Tasmania state nomination?
Migration Tasmania has announced that Registrations of Interest for all pathways and pass levels will close at 5pm on Wednesday, 3 June 2026 for the 2025-26 program year.
The final invitation round for the 2025-26 program year is expected to take place on Thursday, 4 June 2026.
What this means for applicants:
β
ROIs should be submitted before the deadline if you are eligible and ready
β
Tasmania will continue assessing nomination applications
β
New nomination applications can still be lodged if invited
β
With limited nomination places remaining, not all applicants may be nominated this program year
β
Some approved applications may need to wait for the 2026-27 nomination allocation
β
ROIs not invited before the end of the program may remain in the Gateway for six months and be considered when the 2026-27 program opens
This is another reminder that state nomination is becoming increasingly competitive across Australia.
π If Tasmania is part of your PR strategy, do not wait until the last minute. Check your eligibility, documents and pathway before submitting an ROI.
