The children in Rooms 19 and 20 had a very special surprise today π€©
After spending the start of this year reading and exploring the novel Matilda together, they were thrilled to discover that a cinema had been booked exclusively for them to watch the movie on the big screen π¬

β¨β€οΈππ€ KARRENDI: ALL INππ€π β¨
As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close, we know that reconciliation is not something that begins and ends within a week. In many ways, we are only just at the beginning of our journey ποΈ
This week has provided an opportunity to reflect, learn, listen and walk together, but the work of reconciliation continues every day in our classrooms, our conversations and our community π£οΈ
We are also incredibly honoured to have our work featured on the Department for Education's YouTube channel, helping to share our journey and the collective commitment of our school community πΊ
We could not be prouder of our incredible team, children and community for the commitment, courage and openness they have shown throughout this journey so far. The progress we have made together is something to celebrate, but we know there is still much to learn and many more steps to take π£
Thank you to everyone who continues to walk alongside us as we strive to build a culturally safe school where truth-telling, respect and understanding are at the heart of all we do π₯°

β¨ π§ YEAR 6 JACKET PRESENTATION π§π½β¨
Today was a special milestone for our Year 6 students as they proudly received their commemorative Year 6 jackets π€©
Adding an extra touch of significance to the occasion, the jackets were presented by our wonderful Reception students, creating a beautiful moment of connection between the youngest and oldest students in our school community π₯°
These jackets represent leadership, growth, and the memories our Year 6s are creating during their final year of primary school. We know they will wear them with pride as they continue to lead by example and make the most of every opportunity that comes their way π«
π Congratulations, Year 6s! π

β¨ ποΈ MABO DAY ποΈ β¨
Today we recognise Mabo Day, a significant day in Australiaβs history that honours the life and legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo and the many Torres Strait Islander people who fought for recognition of their land rights π
Mabo Day marks the anniversary of the landmark 1992 High Court decision that overturned the myth of terra nullius and acknowledged that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have lived on, cared for and maintained connection to Country for tens of thousands of years π±
As a school community, we continue to learn, listen and engage in truth-telling as we walk together on our reconciliation journey. Today provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of justice, respect and recognising the enduring cultures, histories and contributions of First Nations peoples π«±πΎβπ«²πΌ
