What are students really doing at Young Engineers?

Looks like play? Look closer 🤓

There’s a model being built on the table. But there’s a whole lot more happening behind it.

A student is thinking through a problem.
Remembering what they’ve just learned.
Working with others.
Trying something that might not work.
Finding another way when it doesn't.
And experiencing what it feels like to work something out for themselves.

At Young Engineers, LEGO® and building are the tools. What we're really building is curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, resilience and confidence.

So yes, it looks like a lot of fun.
That's kind of the point. 😉

Ever wondered how THAT works?

The world around us is full of engineering, even if we don't always stop to notice it.

At Young Engineers, we take those real-world ideas and put them into students' hands.

A gear isn't just a gear when you can see what it makes happen.

A lever makes a lot more sense when you've just used one.

And forces, motion and mechanical advantage become much more interesting when they're making your model work.

What does an engineering concept look like? 👀

On paper, things like force, motion, gears and mechanical advantage can sound pretty abstract.

Then you build them.
Suddenly, a student isn't just hearing about how a mechanism works.
They can see it.
Touch it.
Put it to work.

That's one of our favourite things about Young Engineers.

We take ideas that exist in textbooks and in the world around us, and give students the chance to experience them for themselves.

Because some things make a whole lot more sense when they're right there in your hands.

It's amazing what children can achieve when they build it themselves.

Week after week, our students bring engineering concepts to life through hands-on models that move, lift, spin, and solve real-world challenges.

But the model is only part of the story.

With every lesson, they're learning to think critically, persevere through challenges, and turn ideas into reality.

One build at a time.

Not every lesson ends with the same result.

Give a group of students the same challenge and you'll often get very different approaches.

Different ideas.
Different questions.
Different ways of thinking.

And that's one of the things we love most about engineering.

There's rarely just one way to solve a problem.
Young Engineers gives students the opportunity to explore, experiment, and discover solutions in their own way.

Because learning isn't about finding the "right" answer.

It's about learning how to think.

That's why we intentionally keep our classes small.

Smaller groups allow our educators to provide individual guidance, encourage participation, support problem-solving, and help every child get the most from each session.

You'll never find children being left to figure things out on their own while staring at a screen. Our educators are actively involved, engaging with every student and creating a learning experience that feels personal, supportive, and inspiring.
