✨ Exciting STEM Opportunities at St Brendan’s! 🚀🌱

We’re excited to offer our Year 5 & 6 students some fantastic STEM learning opportunities this semester.

🦋 Our Year 6 students are working alongside Holy Spirit College to explore biomimicry and how nature can inspire creative and functional design solutions.

⛏️ Our partnership with the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) will also provide Year 5 & 6 students with engaging, curriculum-aligned STEM experiences.

We’re looking forward to seeing our students discover, investigate, create and problem-solve through these exciting opportunities! Keep an eye out later this term as we share more about our student’s workshop experiences🌟

🎉 Celebrating Mathematical Excellence! 🎉
With 42 teams competing, St Brendan's achieved an impressive 2nd and 5th place finish at the recent 2026 Mackay Mathematics Competition. An incredible result that reflects the hard work, dedication, and problem-solving skills of our students.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful teachers, whose knowledge, encouragement, and guidance throughout our students' primary school journey have helped make this success possible.
Well done, students and staff! Your commitment to learning and striving for excellence continues to make our school community proud. 🌟📚➕

We recently had the pleasure of attending a special mass at St Joseph's Church to celebrate NAIDOC week.
Our group of St Brendan's students from Prep to Year 6 represented our school with pride and respect, honouring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culture, wisdom, and spirituality.

Cumberland Athletics Trials

ST BRENDAN’S ARE THE 2026 CUMBERLAND ATHLETICS CHAMPIONS! 🥇🌟

We placed first overall by a massive 60 points and this is the first time we have ever won 🎉 We were also second on aggregate and achieved 58 places in total - 14 firsts, 18 seconds, 15 thirds and 11 fourths.

Congratulations to all 20 students who made the Cumberland athletics team – this is the most we have ever had as a school, and we wish them luck at the Mackay trials.

We had such a wonderful time celebrating St Brendan’s Feast Day last month! Over a couple of weeks, our school community came together to honour St Brendan with a range of joyful events — from a Walk Safely to School morning and a fun-filled Colour Run afternoon, to delicious donut treats for all. We also gathered for a whole school Mass with Fr Raju, reminding us to follow the example of St Brendan, and carry our faith into our actions each day.

Thank you to our First Nations Learning Support Officer, Natasha Majid who organised for three of our Year 6 students to attend an Orche Lens Art Workshop at CQU recently.

Two of those students entered an artwork in the CQU Reconciliation Art Exhibition and attended the Official Opening and Presentation of the CQU Mackay Reconciliation Week Art Exhibition Awards. Our Principal, Karla Falzon, Natasha Majid and our three workshop students attended this event in person.

Congratulations to both students, one being the winner of First Nations Themed Piece – Primary School, our second entry winning Reconciliation Week Theme ‘All In’ – Primary School.
