Do you know what a tunnel book is?

Last week in our Adult Beginner Art Class, we explored Mid Century Modern art and design by creating tunnel books!

A tunnel book is made from a series of illustrated layers placed one behind another, creating a wonderful sense of depth and dimension when you look through it.

We painted our Mid-Century inspired scenes with watercolour pencils, carefully cut the different layers and then assembled them to bring the whole scene together.

It was something completely different from what we normally do, and I loved seeing everyone's tunnel books come to life! Another fun and creative night in the studio.

Our Keith Haring Artworks Are Finally Finished!

This one took us a few weeks to complete because there were so many different components involved, but they were definitely worth the wait!

Inspired by Keith Haring, our artists combined bright acrylic painting, bold black lines and handmade polymer clay pieces to create these wonderfully colourful mixed media artworks.

I absolutely love how different they all turned out. Everyone took the inspiration and added their own little twist, which is exactly what I love seeing in our art classes.

I am sure Keith Haring would have been pretty happy to see how his art inspired this creative lot!

Another project finished and another very proud art teacher!

I have to share Amber’s beautiful artwork! ❤️

Amber is left handed, which meant working with a palette knife presented a little challenge at first. She had to experiment with how to hold the knife, move the paint and find a technique that felt comfortable for her.

And she figured it out!

That is one of the things I love about teaching art. It is not always about doing something in one particular way. Sometimes it is about experimenting, adapting and finding your own way of making art.

Amber did such a lovely job, and I am so proud of how she kept working at it until she found what worked for her.

I absolutely loved seeing all the different artworks being completed in the studio this week.

That is one of my favourite things about our art classes. Everyone may be learning the same techniques, but no two artworks ever turn out the same. Different colours, different ideas, different personalities and lots of creativity!

Pop Art has definitely grown on me this term. It is bold, colourful, a little quirky and just so much fun to create.

There is something funny about being an artist. Sometimes you create simply because you love it, and only later do you realise where those creative instincts came from.

I recently finished this abstract botanical piece, and as I looked at it, it suddenly clicked. Without even trying, so much of my work has been influenced by the Pop Art movement. The bold colours, strong outlines, simplified shapes, and joyful energy have quietly found their way into my own style over the years.

I never set out to paint Pop Art. I simply painted what felt like a fun idea. Looking back, I can now see how the pop art artists have left little fingerprints on my creative journey.

That is one of the beautiful things about art. Every painting tells a story, not only about the subject on the canvas but also about the artist behind the brush.

I’m excited to keep discovering where this colourful path leads next. 🌸🎨

I have to admit… Pop Art is really growing on me! 🎨🍩

This week our Adult Beginner Art Class was inspired by Andy Warhol, and we painted colourful Pop Art doughnuts. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect at first, but wow… they came out so good!

Using bold colours, strong black outlines, and clever shading, everyone transformed a simple doughnut into a vibrant work of art. It was amazing to see how changing the colours gave each artwork its own personality while still using the same design.

One of the things I love most about our classes is watching everyone surprise themselves. There is something so rewarding about trying a new style, learning new techniques, and walking away thinking, “I actually created that!”

I’m already looking forward to seeing what we create together next Monday. 💗

What an incredible Fairy Scene Ink Art Workshop! 🧚‍♀️

What a wonderful morning of creativity, laughter, and beautiful artwork! Everyone created their own enchanting fairy scenes, and it was amazing to see how every piece reflected its artist's imagination and style.

Of course, no fairy workshop would be complete without a little fairy dust sprinkled across our hair and hands! It added the perfect finishing touch and brought every artwork to life.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Eileen McMahon for sharing her talent, creativity, and passion with us once again. We always love having you in the studio!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the workshop so special. We can't wait to create with you again at our next event!

Our kids have been busy creating the most beautiful polymer clay flowers, and we couldn't be prouder of what they achieved! 🌸🎨

Using polymer clay, the children carefully shaped petals, leaves, and flower centres before arranging them into a colourful garden scene. They learned that creating with clay takes patience, careful observation, and attention to detail, and they embraced every part of the process.

The finished flowers were absolutely stunning. Every bloom was unique, full of colour, and so beautifully made. It is amazing to think these talented artists are only 7 and 8 years old. Their creativity, determination, and pride in their work shone through in every single flower. We can't wait to watch these young artists continue to blossom!

Our studio was filled with laughter, creativity and the sweetest group of girls. They embraced every activity with such positive attitudes, encouraged one another and created the most amazing artwork. It was a joy to watch their confidence and creativity shine throughout the party.

A huge thank you to Abigail for choosing How Great Thou Art to celebrate your birthday with us. It was a privilege to be part of your special day, and we hope you made memories that will last a lifetime. 🌸🦋🎂

Thank you for letting us host your celebration. We loved every minute of it! 💗🎨

What a cool night in the studio!

This week our Adult Beginner Art Class explored the exciting world of neon lights. Using black card and a range of mixed media techniques, we learned how artists create the illusion of glowing light with layers of colour, soft blending, and bright highlights.

It was amazing to watch each artwork come to life as the neon effect started to glow against the dark background. Every piece was unique, and everyone left with a vibrant artwork they could be proud of.

What a fun class full of creativity, laughter, and lots of glowing masterpieces!
