We know that people are more likely than the general population to experience . We also know that there are many systemic factors which may contribute to eating disorder onset or maintenance for neurodivergent people.

Health and education professionals can make a big difference to prevention, early intervention and treatment of eating disorders for neurodivergent people by providing affirming care and support early in life and across the lifespan.

That’s why NEDC commissioned Eating Disorders Neurodiversity Australia to write a report — The EDNA paper, Eating Disorders and Neurodivergence: A Stepped Care Approach, gives a comprehensive overview of key issues in the experience of eating disorders and eating disorder care for neurodivergent people, and gives practical tips and guidance for clinicians, services providers and researchers.

* I had the privilege and opportunity to help review this important and timely report that I hope will make a much needed positive impact.

Learn more about prevention, early identification and treatment of EDs for neurodivergent people in this groundbreaking paper at bit.ly/EDs-Neuro or go to link in bio

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a week to highlight the ways that all of society can benefit from different thinkers.

Happy Day of the Goddess! Did ya know, until patriarchal times became the ‘norm’, both Fridays and 13s were held in high esteem, and associated with the divinity of the feminine*, natural cycles, Goddesses, and therefore, regarded as energetically sacred.

*the wild irony of centuries of superstition, fear and misuse of powers is that all human beings, no matter their gender identity, and, including cis men, can invoke and evoke the energy or archetype of divine femininity.

Book a Coaching with the Oracles session with me if you want to get in touch with your divine femininity or guidance from Goddesses - https://linktr.ee/elysarobertsphd

Meet ‘Destiny’, a 9 metre (nearly 30 foot) high bronze statue overlooking Newcastle Harbour. She was designed and sculpted by artist and Novocastrian, Julie Squires in 2001.

I like to visit Destiny (especially smack in the middle of the day in summertime on sunny hot days, which we are having a few of finally).

Sometimes I talk to her, inviting her to extend her energies to protect the vessels and sailors who enter and exit the Harbour at all hours of the day/night, to me and those I encounter.

Sometimes I question her, wondering (with equal parts curiosity and frustration) why my destiny needed to include some twist or turn!

Most often though, I send her appreciation for the pinnacles, and even the pitfalls, that do seems to be meant to be mine –
knowing that I have been creating my own destiny for lifetimes and will continue to do so in this one!

Fun facts: Artist Julie Squires’ inspiration for the sculpture came from figureheads positioned on bows of early sailing ships. Ancient sailors believed that the power of a goddess / female could keep the seas calm and them safe from/in storms. Women, however, were not allowed on boats, so instead they were represented at the bow of the vessels.

*Why were the women typically topless? Well, we could speculate several reasons why 🙄 … I’m going with the idea that bare breasts on women wasn’t always socially unacceptable and instead, was simply the natural way or the way of the mermaids 🧜🏻‍♀️ and Atlanteans ✨🌊

p.s. get in touch by DM/PM if you’d like some coaching and intuitive guidance on designing or redesigning your destiny in 2023.

In case you were, wondering, Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, celebrates and commemorates a 'Miracle' from Jewish history in ancient times (more than 2,000 years ago). Circumstances of the times left a need to relight the menorah in a synagogue that was meant to stay lit every night. However, there was only enough oil to keep the menorah's candles burning for a single day. Miraculously, the flames continued flickering for eight nights, leaving the Jewish people time to find a fresh supply of oil. This event inspired the Jewish sages to proclaim a yearly eight-day festival.

Note: dates of Hanukkah change every year because the date follows the Hebrew calendar. This year, the last night of Hanukkah fell on Christmas.

Fun facts - we put the candles in the menorah from right to left (how Hebrew is read). However, we light the candles from left to right.

We use a candle to light the others. This candle, the shamash (means “helper” in Hebrew) then gets placed in the highest spot each night.

We let the candles burn down every night, and then restart the next night, adding one more candle until they are all lit on the eighth night.

this is the first year in 10 years that I’ve lived in Australia, that I lit the candles all eight nights 😁

put into words what I couldn’t figure out how to do in reflection on surprising news of the death of Stephen tWitch Boss.

Can’t say I was an avid Ellen watcher - the bit I often watched the most was tWitch’s groovy inspiring intro.

Such news naturally prompted subsequent reflections on others in my life and even on my own history of heavy times that I managed to make look light.

Times like these prompt a good reminder to appreciate my/our connections, drop the comparisons and have compassion for ourselves and others.

Sending peace to , his wife + their 3 kids 🕊️
