Grade 6’s are enjoying a slightly damp camp down at Blue Lagoon, Dodges Ferry.
Making the most of things, managed to get some archery and rock climbing in today and we’ve even managed to see some sun !!!!! Fingers crossed that lasts.

Inter-School Cross Country Update

The new date will be Friday the 26th of June at Bayview. Team initially selected will still be the team going. Mr Walsh won’t hand out booklets as all the information received initially is the same besides the date.

Sorry for the inconvenience! Fingers crossed for some good weather!

Inter-School Cross Country Update

Hi all,

Received this just then and wanted to pass it on. Apologies in advance!

An assessment of the Cross Country course this morning has shown that it is significantly underwater and not safe to use tomorrow so it will be postponed. We will endeavour to look at another date, possibly in week 8 if there is availability.

Thanks,
Mr Walsh

I just wanted to say how proud I was of all our students today at our Cross Country. Running long distances can cause anxiety for a lot of people but everyone tried their best. There were countless stories of resilience and determination during the day, with many students setting goals for themselves and achieving them. School spirit was also shown by all students, with many running extra races to ensure the younger students achieved their goals. Jak’s effort in grade 3 summed up the resilience and determination shown by all students, completing the whole race in his wheelchair whilst the school showed school spirit by chanting his name to help motivate him.

Thanks to all of the parents and friends for coming along to support our students. I couldn’t be prouder with how everyone went today and I hope everyone is proud of themselves too.

This week we had the absolute joy of celebrating Mother’s Day with our Muffins with Mum afternoon in Ludo and Kinder 🩷
The children were so excited to greet their mums and special loved ones with flowers before enjoying a beautiful afternoon together. Our spaces were filled with love and laughter as families joined us for connection and fun. From nail painting and hand massages to tea parties, bracelet making, and sharing muffins, it was such a special time for everyone.
We feel so lucky to be part of such a caring and supportive community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so memorable 🌸

Tas Networks will be working on the powerlines at Tynwald Park next week. At this stage, it won’t impact our Cross Country but there is a chance the course may need to change slightly to avoid their work. If that is the case, Mr Walsh will let students know during PE next week or on the day. These works shouldn’t impact the day of our Cross Country (Wednesday).

Enjoy your weekend!
Mr Walsh

STAFF SUCCESSFULLY STUN STUDENTS TO EXTEND STREAK

Our Term 1 Grade 6 vs Staff All Star Game returned today, with basketball the selected sport. In an epic encounter, the students got off to a fast start with the staff fighting back to take the lead before maintaining it for the rest of the game.

For the staff, Miss Peters (6 points) was MVP, shooting very well, playing some great defence and passing like a star. Mr Blizzard (6 points) had some awesome drives to the hoop and rebounded like a champion. Mr Walsh (4 points) missed a lot of shots but set up a lot of teammates, also managing to block a few of his former students. Mrs Rowbottom didn’t back down, showing some great aggression and also scoring a classy basket. Miss Oliver passed the ball really well and performed well for her first All Star Game. Mrs Pursell was in the right spots and had some very handy rebounds to set up her teammates. Mrs Ackerley, Mrs Davie and Miss Foss all played vital roles for the success of their team with some great shots and elite defence.

For the students, Bryah was ferocious as expected, stealing and blocking the ball off a lot of staff and barging through staff defence like it was nothing. Cece (4) scored the most points for her team and tried to get others involved with some good passes. Kaleb’s dribble skills were hard to defend and he got himself into some good positions. Lola rebounded the ball well and played some team first basketball. Ollie had some good shots as well and tried hard for the students. Spence attacked at every opportunity and tried to shoot his side into a victorious position. Sharni played extremely well in the post and didn’t let any staff get past her. Reece, Ashton and Kailee all had moments of brilliance and showed great fight against the staff.

In the end, the staff were too good and ended up winning 22-12. A new batch of Grade 6’s bragged before the game once again and have been left licking their wounds as they look to bounce back next term. This win marks 11 in a row for the staff!
