Coding Kids computer club
7 week block
1 hour class before or after school
Max 10 students per 1 tutor, larger classes have multiple tutors
Separate sessions: Grades 2-3, Grades 4, Grades 5-6

Coding Kids incursions (in school hours)

1 hour class in school hours

Program Overview
The Coding Kids program is aligned with the Australian National Curriculum. The 5-year program takes a Grade 2 student starting with Scratch, continues on to HTML & CSS (web development) and gets them to building games and programs in Python. Older students starting the program can still pick up Scratch and would accelerate through the Scratch program before progressing onto HTML & CSS and Python. Grades 2-6: Scratch
Grades 5 & 6: HTML & CSS (web dev), Python and Project Spark. Examples of concepts covered:
- internet safety
- coding in the real world
- plan before starting
- test and retest (experimentation and iteration)
- sequencing
- decisions (do something IF something else is true)
- looping (repeat commands several times)
- input, output, store data (numbers, text)
- operate on data (add numbers, change text)
- designing for users
- learning on your own / from others
- online behaviour
