What your food is stored in matters! Decant store bought items into non-plastic containers to decrease your exposure to plastic-associated chemicals.

Washing your food before eating and choosing loose produce is recommended too!

Be watching tomorrow night WA Museum as our own Dr Amelia Harray | Dietitian & Plastics Researcher competes for the title of FameLab Australia 2026 Champion! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

The challenge: No slides. No PowerPoint. No jargon. No boring.

Amelia’s topic: “Can a low-plastic diet improve health outcomes?”

Each finalist has three minutes to explain their research in clear, engaging language that anyone can understand. They will be judged on the three Cs of FameLab: Content, Clarity and Charisma.

Low-plastic tip: avoid buying items that are individually wrapped in plastic, especially for kids.

Our research showed that plastic levels inside the body are higher in those people who consume highly packaged and processed food regularly.
