Our study would like to invite all the original Kidskin participants to take part in a follow-up research study now looking at the health of their eyes.
The Western Australian Kidskin Study was a unique school-based intervention study that began in 1995 and involved a cohort of children aged 5-6 years who were recruited from 33 primary schools around Perth. The study looked at the children's time spent outdoors and information was collected on their wearing of hats, sunscreen and sun protective clothing. The results of this project showed that som
e children spent much less time in the sun and used more sun protection than others. NOW! 20 years later we would like to how see how much time the original participants spend outdoors in the sun and the effects of this on their eye health. To do this, we would like to invite all the original participants of the study to come back and do the eye health study which involves a FREE comprehensive eye examination in the Lions Eye Institute in Nedlands. If you were born in 1989, went to primary school in Perth and believe you were a participant of this study, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us. You may email Nicola on [email protected] or call 9381 0707 for more information or to book an appointment. If you are interested and not sure whether you were a participant of the study, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will check for you. We look forward to hearing from you soon!! :)
