Teamwork makes the rescue work! 🦜❤️ We are incredibly grateful to have built such strong, supportive relationships with other local wildlife rescues and organizations.

When it comes to rehabilitating wildlife, it can truly take a village. Recently, we took in these sweet baby rosella to the wildlife clinic as immediately upon collection we noticed one little fledgling had some concerning breathing. Because we have such an amazing network of friends we work alongside we were able to quickly transfer the little one to the wildlife hospital to be professionally monitored by vets for a few days.

Knowing we have trusted friends and specialized hospitals to help us with rescue cases ensures every animal gets the absolute best chance at survival

❤️Cuteness Alert!!!❤️
Little Albert came into care after he was found on the ground at the base of a tree next to the dog park in our local township of Nairne. He was cold, dehydrated and emaciated when he was rescued, he is currently doing well in care and we are hopeful to return him to his home.
We are very lucky to have a lovely colony of black possums in our town, we really need to care for these unique colour variations and enjoy having these wonderful marsupials sharing our community for years to come.

One of the hardest parts of wildlife rescue is accepting that you cannot save them all and sometimes you have to make heartbreaking decisions for the best odds. Yesterday we rushed a beautiful mother possum to the wildlife vet after she failed to outrun a Greyhound with two tiny twin boys safely tucked in her pouch. While we held onto so much hope, unfortunately the vet assessment brought a devastating reality: the trauma had caused mum's milk to dry up, the boys had significantly lost condition and they were at an unviable weight with extremely low success rates to be rehabilitated by hand.

It's important to know your limitations and we honestly find it hard with 50g RT let alone 27g which is what these two were 😭 With heavy hearts we had to say goodbye to her twin boys to end their suffering and shift 100% of the focus toward saving mum. It is a brutal reminder of how fragile these lives are but by giving everything we have to heal her now we are hopeful she can return to the wild and bring more babies into the world in the future. Rest easy, little boys. 🤍✨
Mum will now stay in the care of the wildlife vet team at Southern Koala and Echidna Rescue Ltd where they can monitor her closely.
( PS.She wasn't shaved for vet assessment, she was basically defurred by the dog.)

Listen nobody warns you about the terrifying mechanics of drinking from a test to drinking from a bowl when you’re a fluff ball trying to survive wildlife rehab. Once that milk is finished it's time for a sinus clean out sneeze chain reaction until it's all out your nose and you've cleared yourself up.

We found this poor little possum all alone on the cold ground in the pitch dark and she was absolutely terrified. She was so tiny and shaking with fear when we first brought her inside to safety. It has taken a few days of quiet, gentle care and warmth but seeing her safe and calm after being so frightened makes every bit of patience worth it. ❤️🐾

Thank you to Mount Barker Veterinary Clinic for seeing little magnolia here who had an accidental run in with a dog in Woodside.

Did you know: Dog and Cat saliva is toxic to wildlife and often is fatal without vet treatment.
Due to the quick action from the dog's owner and the team at the vets this possum was able to receive the antibiotics she needed to pull through the ordeal.

Two seconds of patience can mean the difference between a tragic ending and a saved life.

A turtle was trying to cross the bush road so i turned around, parked safely and ran back across the road to get them out of harm's way just in time. We live in a world where everyone is in a constant hurry but a two-second delay, hitting the brakes or taking a moment to scan the road is just a minor blip in our day. For this turtle, those few seconds of driver awareness meant a literal lifetime.

As the weather warms up, our shelled friends are on the move. Please keep your eyes on the road, slow down around wetlands and bush packaging, and watch out for wildlife. Taking an extra moment for kindness is always worth it! 🐢✨
