Katura Halleday is one of four nominees for the 2026 Queensland Young Australian of the Year

We’re so proud to call her a Burleigh Lion.

I have been sitting on this news for a few weeks..... BUT NOW I CAN SHARE!!!!

Just 12 days to go before the 2026 QLD awards.

What an amazing honour and I will be so proud to stand alongside so many inspiring Australians. (especially my friend Tom).

This nomination honestly is a celebration of all that the 8x8 Team have achieved - I am just the spokesperson. It has been a joint effort of creativity and compassion that has led to this day.

Was a fun way to start the day yesterday, cooking for the Lions Club of Burleigh Heads to feed the hungry locals farewelling the last of our Olympic hopefuls. Thanks to Katura Halleday, Chris, and John Andrews for helping with the cooking.

Would like to extend a huge thank you to Lions Club of Mudgeeraba Inc. and the Mudgeeraba Girls Guides, who this morning ran the Gun Fire Breakfast at the Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall. It was wonderful to see the community come together and share a meal and it would not have been possible without their work.
