Today we gathered to reflect as we head into Lent; How can we each be contributors for good in our community, what does it look like to bring out the best in ourselves and one another. Students shared in a special Lenten Blessing to mark this season. Thank you to our Year 12 student leaders and staff who assisted in leading the Blessings across the Primary and Secondary School.

Over the past fortnight our Class of 2024 have been preparing themselves for their final year of school, completing a number of activities together to help set up an enjoyably successful year, including exploring the ‘How’ of Year 12 during their Preparation Day and the ‘Who’ at the Year 12 Retreat last Friday. Finally on Tuesday night we gathered to formally Induct the Class of 2024 in a thoughtful and focused service, providing students, families and staff an opportunity to commit to supporting each throughout the year. Our new Principal, Mr Geoff Roberts-Thomson’s message of try your best, be kind to each other, don’t worry about next year, and we are here to support you, resonated with students. The evening ended with students proudly sporting their new Year 12 badges and celebrating with their family and friends while watching the sun set over the bay!

One of the greatest joys over the past 5 years has been arriving early each morning, pausing on the terrace, and admiring the stunning and everchanging view. As I took my final pause on the terrace today, I reflected on the successes and challenges of the past 5 years along with the remarkable community that I have had the opportunity to work closely with. Balcombe Grammar is a very special school and I wish the entire community a safe and happy festive season and all the best for 2024 and beyond. I will be forever grateful to have been part of your community – thank you! 😊

Congratulations to the entire team of students, staff, alumni and parents who supported this year’s Year 6 Shakespeare play. This challenging musical involved combining Shakespeare’s Macbeth with classic rock hits from the 1980s which naturally placed almost the entire team outside of their comfort zone! The end result was an energetic performance that the audience will remember for years to come. Our students are to be commended for displaying our school values of confidence, inclusion and curiosity.
