The teen girls campaigning to get school uniform banned from p**n

We’re backing a group of teen girls in Bicester, England who have launched a petition to ban school uniforms in p**n.

As reported in The Times:

‘Rose, 15, hates wearing her school uniform on the journey home. “I can’t stand it,” she says. “Not because it’s uncomfortable but because of the possibilities of how it is perceived.”

‘The others, Mae and Aylin, both also 15, and Willow, 14, nod. School uniform is a common costume for female performers in p**nography. This is despite the fact that school uniform is mandatory in almost all schools in the UK, mostly from the ages of four to sixteen.

‘This creates, these students at the Cooper School in Bicester argue, a deeply troubling loop. Girls are s*xualised through the use of school uniforms in p**n. Then girls in schools are obliged to spend most of their week wearing a costume out in the world that is shared with some of the most upsetting, if not p*edophilic, content online. That they have to start a campaign to ban school uniforms in p**n seems absurd to them, but they do and they have. Our conversation marks the start of their petition to have a ban on school uniforms in p**n debated in parliament.

‘A 2018 survey of 1,000 girls aged 14-21 by the charity Plan International found that 35 per cent had received unwanted s*xual attention while in school uniform, 13 per cent when they were 12 or under, and 8 per cent had been filmed by a stranger without their consent while in a school uniform.’

Young Australian men are being targeted by criminal organisations, usually operating from overseas, in s*xual extortion attempts.

'While women were twice as likely to experience image-based abuse, men were over-represented — almost 90 per cent — as s*xtortion victims, according to Australia's eSafety Commissioner...

'An Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) report found more than one in 10 adolescents aged 16-18 had experienced s*xual extortion in their lifetime, and only a small fraction reported it to authorities.'

Criminal gangs continue to have Australian men and boys in their sights as targets for s*xual extortion, with more than $200,000 defrauded from victims in one state.

The use of generative AI is making it easier than ever to produce misogynistic narratives at scale - and social media algorithms are helping distribute them.

Short AI-generated videos featuring talking fruit, animals, food and objects are racking up views across social media.

They look absurd.

Pregnant bananas. Cheating strawberries. Talking fruit caught up in bizarre relationship dramas.

It would be easy to dismiss it all as harmless AI slop. But look beyond the cute characters and some very familiar messages about women emerge.

S*xual violence. Forced pregnancy. False s*xual assault allegations. Body shaming. Women trading s*x for money or career advancement. Women portrayed as s*xually promiscuous, manipulative and deceptive.

This isn’t actually harmless at all.
