What an amazing effort by our Laudato Si students ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿงค

With the support of Pat from City of Ballarat and Inga from Resource Smart Schools, our students managed to plant 150 small trees along the Specimen Vale Creek. Talk about hope into action!

It took our small group of 9 students just over an hour, meaning our average planting rate was almost 3 trees per minute! โฐ๏ธ

The species include:
- Murnong
- Pale vanilla lily
- Sweet bursaria
- Bushy needlewood
- Broad leaf peppermint
- Snow gum
- Tussock grass
- Silver banksia

All collected and grown within 50km of Ballarat ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ŸŒŽโœ๏ธ

An update from Emily- ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ

A week into my Finland study tour and Iโ€™m feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn, listen and connect with educators from across the world. Speaking about St Alipius and our leadership work within our CIRP was a highlight.

One of the most encouraging things has been discovering how many of the challenges we face in education are shared globally: supporting teachers, engaging students, managing the impact of technology, building inclusive schools and preparing children for an ever-changing future.

Iโ€™ve loved hearing different perspectives on what children need to thrive, particularly the importance of belonging, participation, student voice, creativity, empathy and strong relationships.

Our school visit this week was a real highlight. Seeing Finnish students learning with such independence, spending time outdoors, walking and riding to school, and experiencing a learning environment built strongly on trust has given me plenty to reflect on.

Iโ€™ve also been reminded that great education isnโ€™t about finding one perfect system to copy. Itโ€™s about being curious, asking questions and thinking carefully about what might help our own children and community flourish, in our own context.

Iโ€™m looking forward to bringing some of this thinking home to St Alipius and continuing the conversation with our staff, students and families. I wish everyone a great week ahead and a fun time at the disco!

What a day for our incredible Royal South Street Debate teams! ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽค

After months of hard work, preparation, practice and determination, our teams battled it out in an extraordinary Semi Final, finishing as Runners Up by just ONE point! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ‘

The adjudicatorโ€™s feedback was an incredible acknowledgement of our students, describing it as by far the best debate of the season for manner and technique across ALL debates. What an accolade for our kids! ๐ŸŒŸ

And perhaps one of the most special parts of today was seeing our teammates who werenโ€™t competing in the Semi Final cheering from the sidelines, sharing in every moment of nervousness, excitement, joy and pride as though they were up there themselves. That is what being a team is all about. โค๏ธ

We could not be prouder of the way our students represented themselves, their teammates and our school. Their courage, teamwork, preparation, sportsmanship and incredible debating skills have been truly outstanding.

One point separated the teams. A whole lot of hard work brought them here. And an enormous amount of pride goes with them. ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ‘

What a team. What a season. What an achievement! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ†

A fantastic day was had at the Catholic Athletics competition at Llanberris yesterday. We had a record number of St Alipius representatives, with around 50 students competing. We were so proud of their positive attitude and encouragement of each other and other athletes. Well done St Alips! ๐ŸŒŸ

Today our students swapped their uniforms for casual clothes, but more importantly, they showed what it means to care for others.

As part of our Casual Day supporting the Central Highlands Homelessness Alliance - CHHA, our school community generously donated non-perishable food items, which were collected today by SOUL plus FOOD. These donations will help support vulnerable individuals and families across the Ballarat community.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our families for your generosity. Small acts of kindness, when shared by a community, make a real difference. ๐Ÿ’™

We are looking forward to celebrating Grandparents and Special Friends Day on Friday August 14th. Details below!

๐ŸŽค Year 5/6 Debating | Royal South Street Challenge Cup ๐Ÿ†

What a fantastic day for our Year 5/6 debating teams, competing in the Royal South Street Challenge Cup alongside 18 other primary-aged teams across nine debates.

We are yet to find out whether todayโ€™s results have secured a place in the next round, but a win today is certainly something our debaters can feel incredibly proud of! ๐Ÿ‘

At this age, debating is about learning to think critically, listen to different perspectives, build a strong argument and communicate ideas clearly and confidently. Most importantly, it is a wonderful way to step outside our comfort zone, challenge ourselves and grow, regardless of the outcome.

Well done to all our debaters for showing courage, teamwork and determination. Putting yourself out there is a win in itself! ๐Ÿ’™
