✨ Science Week at Edelweiss! ✨
As part of our Science Week activities, our curious little scientists had an amazing time with Ranger Jamie’s Junior Einstein Science Adventure!
The children explored the fascinating world of science, including some very exciting experiments with liquid nitrogen! There were plenty of “WOW!” moments as they watched science come to life right in front of them.
The adventure was all about encouraging curiosity, asking questions, making discoveries and having fun while learning. And to finish off their very special science experience, each child decorated their own rocket to launch and then take home!

🌊🐚 Exploring the Ocean with our Preschoolers!
This morning our Preschool children listened so carefully to the latest Shirley Pearl letter, all about the ocean. Afterwards, they came up with some wonderful questions and ideas with Miss Rebecca before getting the opportunity to touch and explore real cuttlefish bone!
The children also learnt about the important role cuttlefish played for Aboriginal people living along the Australian coast, making this a wonderful opportunity to connect learning about the natural world with Aboriginal culture and history.
We love seeing those curious little minds asking questions, exploring and discovering ✨

The excitement has spread to our Early Learners! 🏡🐥
After loving their visits to the Preschool room to see our hatching chicks and ducklings, our clever educators created a very special farmhouse complete with its own little chickens for the Early Learners to enjoy.
We love following the children’s interests and using our imaginations to create fun, engaging learning experiences. Sometimes all it takes is a little creativity to bring big ideas to life! 🌾✨

🐣 The Hatching Chicks Program has arrived! 🐣
One very eager little chick just couldn’t wait to say hello and made an early appearance!
Over the next two weeks, the children will enjoy watching our chick and duck eggs hatch before helping to care for the newest members of the Edelweiss family. It’s a wonderful hands-on opportunity to learn about the life cycles of animals while nurturing curiosity, responsibility and a love of nature. 🐥🦆✨

Learning has never looked so sweet! 🍉
Our Early Learners had so much fun combining sensory play with early maths during this hands-on watermelon counting activity.
Using their fine motor skills, the children carefully picked up each “watermelon seed” before matching it to the correct number on the watermelon slices. Along the way they were practising counting, number recognition, hand-eye coordination and concentration, all while having fun!
We love creating playful learning experiences that spark curiosity and help children build important skills through exploration and discovery.

Sensory play is so much more than messy fun – it’s an important part of how young children learn about the world around them.
Whether they’re scooping, pouring, squishing, smelling, listening or exploring different textures, children are developing valuable skills every step of the way.

At Edelweiss, we love creating opportunities for children to explore with all of their senses. These experiences encourage children to investigate, ask questions, make discoveries and learn through play – because that’s where the best learning happens!

We were so excited to welcome the Super Safe Harold program into our centre this week! Harold helps children learn in a fun, interactive way – making big ideas about safety meaningful and easy to understand for young learners.
The children were engaged, curious, and full of questions as they learned how to keep themselves and others safe in their everyday lives.
We’re so proud of how confidently they participated and shared their thinking throughout the session!
A big thank you to the Healthy Harold team for such a valuable and memorable experience!

Our preschoolers had so much fun exploring rhythm with Miss Maggie using clapping sticks today! As they listened carefully to the music, they followed directions such as loud, soft, quiet, left, and right. There were lots of smiles, concentration, and energetic movements as the children tapped along to the beat.
Activities like this help build listening skills, coordination, body awareness, and confidence while making music and movement fun!

Our little ones are learning the importance of handwashing and hygiene through fun daily routines that help keep everyone safe and smiling. 🧼
