The NCRRRE conference, brought to us by SPERA, proved to be two days full of learning, thinking “let’s bring that program to Isaac!” and hearing directly from a talented assortment of individuals working as a collective to bring effective, inspiring, and quality practices to education in regional and rural Australia.
The refreshing perspective of knowledge sharing as a resource and strength means that Juliet and Sharon will have countless catch ups to schedule over the next few weeks to ensure we keep the momentum of collaboration across both the RUSH network and other universities throughout the country.
To break up the days, we enjoyed a fabulous evening of food and music where the gold theme highlighted not only our presence in Ballarat but the passion and heart displayed by the 190+ people at the conference.
We can’t wait until 2028 for the next one and are excited to share new programs, ideas, and opportunities for community consultation with you all.

Our first day attending the Regional University Study Hub Symposium was incredibly positive. We met teams from study hubs all over Australia, shared ideas, spoke about the future, and discussed the best parts of encouraging and promoting higher education in our communities where the statistics and barriers usually work against us.
For context, CUC Isaac is a cohort 5 study hub with cohort 1 CUC study hubs starting as early as 2013.
Without the incredible efforts of hubs that came before us, CUC Isaac wouldn’t exist with the opportunities and facilities we can deliver to our locals.

Our team has travelled to Ballarat today to attend the National Conference for Regional, Rural, and Remote Education.
We are so excited to meet our RUSH and CUC network in person and learn how we can improve our region’s access to higher education.

Did you know.... that I am currently studying to help mums even more?

I finished my Certificate 3 in Fitness a little while ago but now I am going further 😁

I am currently working on the Certificate 4 in Fitness - using our amazing CUC Isaac Moranbah location - with the goal to become a personal trainer!

This place is amazing! So quiet and calm, perfect for study without home distractions 😅

I can't wait to share all the great things I am learning xx

CUC Isaac would like to sincerely thank the ICPA Clermont Branch for their generous donation supporting the ongoing sustainability of CUC Isaac.

For over 50 years, ICPA Aust - Isolated Children's Parents' Association Clermont has been a strong voice for isolated families in our region — advocating on issues like small school staffing, Distance Education and financial assistance for rural students. With around 40 member families each year, the branch continues to be a vital support network for our community.

Contributions like this help us keep supporting the people who call our region home. Thank you, ICPA Clermont! 🌾

Meet our 2026 Scholarship Recipients

We are thrilled to announce the recipients of the inaugural CUC Isaac Iberdrola Australia Scholarship Program.

This year, five local students have each been awarded a $5,000 scholarship to support their higher education journey, studying across fields including nursing, accounting, and engineering, right here in the Isaac region.

Every one of these students is proof that talent and determination live right here in our community. With the support of Iberdrola Australia, they can focus on their studies, knowing that the costs of things like travel, placements and course materials are a little easier to manage.

To our recipients, congratulations. We could not be prouder of you, and it is a privilege to support you as you take this next step. We look forward to witnessing your journeys and cheering you on every step of the way.

We are having a fabulous day at the MSHS Careers Expo!
As well as our Centre Manager Juliet, we have two student ambassadors with us, Carmen and Jaizdon, who are both current students with CUC Isaac.
On the university panel this morning, we spoke about QTAC, ATAR, and studying something in which you are passionate.

It was great to see students engaging in the Study Skills workshop in the Centre this week and sharing their experiences and tips. They learnt practical strategies to make study feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

Struggling to find time to study, stay motivated, or know where to even start with an assignment? This workshop is for you.

Join Dr Sharon Stephen, CUC Isaac's Education Coordinator, for the first session in our new Academic Skills Workshop Series — a practical, low-pressure evening designed for university and TAFE/VET students balancing study with work, family, and everything else life throws at you.

In this session you'll:
- Discover study habits that actually work
- Learn how to break big tasks into manageable steps
- Pick up simple time management strategies
- Find ways to beat procrastination
- Connect with other local students and hear about CUC Isaac's support services
