I have been dancing for as long as I could walk. I began with ballet then moved on to jazz ballet before I found belly dancing. I fell in lov
e with this style and never looked back. I began teaching and performing at middle eastern restaurants, weddings, festivals and even competing in dance competitions. I soon felt restricted by the traditions of middle eastern dance and decided to branch out into new styles. I learnt samba, burlesque, dance hall and even breakdancing. I joint collaborated with a dj and regularly performed as Su Musica, Su Movimiento. I began performing a modern interpretation of belly dance at music festivals such as Rainbow Serpent, Earthcore, Strawberry Fields, Little Day Out, Full Moon Parties and also community street festivals, the fringe festival, the red centres camel cup and a regular circuit at Melbourne night clubs. The next step was to focus on fitness in dance and I began teaching at Fernwood fitness centre and local gyms with classes structured for fitness. I also began hosting hens nights, in Burlesque, Bollywood or Belly Dance. Over the past few years I have spent time travelling and adored the flamenco in Spain, the Tango in Argentina and the Samba of Brazil. All these things have influenced me and how I dance. I am so excited to have settled on the Sunshine Coast so I can share my inspiration and interpretation of dance with you. Classes starting soon, contact me for details. With love Tara Jane
